New member, old lurker

Hi all,
I am from Fredericksburg where I attend UMW. I have been skeet shooting once or twice a year since I was about ten years old. These experiences, as well as a few trips to the range with Dad to shoot his Glock, have instilled in me a great passion for firearms. I will turn 21 in a few weeks and will be buying my very own pistol (open to suggestions, of course
). I can't wait!
I am a two year member of the NRA. I am determined to learn as much about shooting, weaponry, our rights and responsibilities as gun owners as I can.

Welcome aboard, Eagle.
It sounds like you're well on your way to being a responsible firearm owner and an ambassador to the 2nd Amendment.
Now that the VGOF OC picnic is the 26th now, that should give plenty of time for you to get something to open carry for the occasion

, Eagle. You're about 10 minutes from me. I'm down Rte 3 west a little ways from you.
If you're looking for a polymer, Glock is a popular choice, but be sure to try out the XD and M&P.
If you like steel, well the 1911 is a great platform, but you also have Sigs, HKs, and many others. The
Range off I-95 136 is the closest to us. They have Glocks, Sig, a Beretta, and several other handguns you can try.
Shoot what you can and find out what you like.

Eagle. I suggest you find a range that rents handguns and try some out. Its also nice if the store front lets you fondle new ones they dont rent. Find one that fits you and that is reliable for what you plan to use it for. There are so many choices now its tough to make a specific recommendation. If you're like many of us you'll end up with several anyway...

Welcome to the Group! You got a good start with the NRA but now ya need to look into the
VCDL. If you are a gun owner in VA, these guys are your best friend!
