There has been a MASSIVE membership increase from the gunshows, and online... since it's an all volunteer organization, it's taking them a bit longer than normal.

Happy to have you along... I'm in the same boat. No worries. I talked to Bob (EM) about it, and was happy to hear the reason it's taking longer.

I got an email from their membership folks today. They are currently processing new memberships from mid to late December.

...and yeah, that's a GOOD reason!

I renewed my membership in mid-December. (Yes, I had let it lapse, though not on purpose.) I got the membership packet yesterday.

Backlogs are a good think in this case!

I had let mine lapse as well, kept getting email updates of whats going on and just completely flaked on it. So I renewed with a donation. I still have not heard back but I am not worried, it's a good thing they are back logged.
