I'd like to hear your suggestions for a small frame +p rated .38 revolver for concealed carry. Thinking I would prefer something with a bobbed or internal hammer so there isn't anything to snag when drawing.

Look at Charter Arms or Ruger.

I don't know anything about Charter Arms except what's in their marketing stuff in the magazines, but Ruger is solid.

sp101 with the full weigand hybraport upgrade.

a touch spendy, but just about the top end in a carry revolver in my opinion.

My carry gun is a S&W 642. It has been around for a long time so it has a track record. There are also lots of options for holsters for belt carry, inside or outside the waistband, and pocket carry. Several companies make grips, as well.

I just got a Ruger SP101 and can't get enough it it! Perfect size, not that heavy and a good solid gun. There's also the LCR if you want to go for a half poly revolver. Can't forget the S&W Airweights either. I've heard really mixed reviews on the Charter Arms. Taurus supposedly did a really good job with their Airweight ripoffs.

I have the new Taurus Protector Polymer in 38+P and it has turned out to be one of my best liked revolvers. Handles everything I have put through the pipe. An shooting +P is very nice. I also like the fiber optic front sight. Worth taking a look at.

I had a Taurus 85SSUL Stainless Ultralite that I really liked. It was +P rated and handled everything I fed it as well. Not a single issue with it in over 1,000 rounds.



Wife has a pink Charter Arms ("Pink Lady") that seems to be built a little cheaper, but has also functioned flawlessly.

For concealed carry I love my S&W 642. I also own a Ruger SP101 but the weight and the hammer keep me from using it for concealed carry. One disclaimer is that I smoothed the action and put lighter springs in the 642. Not something you have to do but it is much more enjoyable now.

Another S&W 642 fan here. I carry it IWB or in-pocket.

642 or M&P 340.

I really wish people would put what region they lived in on their profile. Anyway, I had a Ruger SP101 for CCW. Solid revolver, I even ran some hot .357 Magnums out of it. Most gun smiths can bob the hammer for you. I'd offer the names of said gun smiths, but since I don't know where you are, I don't know who's local to you.

Hard to go wrong with a 642 if you are looking for concealability. They are +P compatible, but a higher-pressure round will bite a bit due to the light weight of the gun.

Thanks for the responses. I've recently shot several of the ones suggested here and have been reminded of the size/weight/recoil ratios. With my arthritic hand, I may need to go in another direction. I am now considering some of the 9mm single stack models.

How is the kick on that Ultralight? My daughter is looking at the Taurus 85 because it fits her hand best, but she thinks the Ultralight might be hard to handle.
