WIS. SHERIFF TELLS RESIDENTS TO LEARN HOW TO USE A GUN

There's an interesting disconnect between the federal bureaucrats who want to mandate how you take care of yourself and your loved ones and the local sheriffs who actually have to respond to calls for help. You know, those people who are struggling to serve and protect while dealing with a budget that's been slashed year after year. If your viewpoint is to ban weapons (like many people want to) and let the police protect you, you might want to reconsider that. The bottom line is that for our communities to be safe, we need ALL law-abiding citizens "in the game".

The Sheriff should also ask residents to read up on 'Castle Rock v. Gonzales' before deciding on whether they should buy a gun or not.

It seems as if the rural Sherriffs are the ones that support this position which happen to be in communities of individuals that are typically more independent and self reliant. The ones standing against it seem to be the more militaristc, get the DoD hand-me-downs, no-knock warrant, shoot the chihuahua because it was barking threateningly, call people "civilians" though they are not under the UCMJ types.

These Sherriffs seem to be level headed and respectable officers. It is refreshing to see.

Yup. It's been my experience that the rural sheriff typically is someone that was born and raised in that locality. Least it used to be that way... I'm getting old.

Interesting read....I'm sure this will get a lot of press when the conversation goes to defending yourself with the firearm of your choosing.

Sheriffs are elected, and that makes all the difference.
