Looking at buying one of these to share with my wife and go along with our .22 LR semi auto rifle, using same ammo. Any brands better than others or any I should absolutely avoid?

I've got the Colt/Umarex/Walther Railgun. It's relatively new with only a couple hundred rounds down the pipe but this far it's functioned without a hitch.
My only gripe is that it shoots low. I'm in the process of ordering a new sight for it that can compensate for elevation.

I have a sig 1911-22. I use the federal bulk stuff. It comes with a couple of plastic front sights and the stock one (high if I recall) had to be swapped out with the medium (i think - it's been quite a while). I've put hundreds of rounds through it, only a couple of FTE/FTFs that I'm pretty convinced were ammo related. The slide is nonferrus (so it can function with .22LR). Take down is similar to a 1911, but not identical; there is a bolt that you need to take out. It feels comfortable in the hand. The magazine is solid and ejects well. I carry it around with me on the farm during spring and summer when i do chores. It does well at 15 yards for my purposes and it's fun to shoot. As I understand it, the sights can be replaced with Novak Low Mounts if you really have issue with the plastic sights.

It's basically the same thing as the GSG, so there might be some cost savings there.

Would I buy the sig again - absolutely. If desired, I can probably do a longer write up on it with some pretty cell phone quality pictures of the innards. HTH.

I spent some time shooting and working on a friend's Chiappa 1911-22 and in my opinion, it was junk. Lots of feeding & extracting issues, the mags were really cheap, the trigger was really mushy, the slide was not smooth by any means. I'd never buy one.

Probably looking at a Sig. Thanks for the info.

I've got an ATI GSG-1911 and it functions flawlessly.

Has anyone tried the Browning 1911-22? I have heard mixed reviews.

We bought our second Sig 1911 .22 Saturday. my Wife likes the ease of loading and is lite enough to shoot for several hours at a time.

I have a Sig Sauer 1911-22 with Chet Whistle (CWAccessories) rod, spring, bushing, cap, plug, mainspring housing & magwell. It's also been tuned and the trigger adjusted to 3.5lbs by a local smith. It usually wears a Tactical Solutions comp but I put this big Volquartsen forward-blow comp on to see how the front weight would work. It's too much really. An Ultradot is next once I get the rail prepped.
