Rant warning!

This is annoying me. We went to the lobbyist day at the capital today. Most of the delegates and senators were not there, and most legislative people we saw were very friendly to us. However one guy kept going on and on about how we need to educate those people who own guns and kept blathering on and on about how we need to be sure people know how to use guns safely. Finally my husband told him he could ask my five and seven year old about safe gun handling (we teach them age appropriate things about guns). The guy literally put his hands over his ears.....NOW I DON"T PUT UP WITH THAT FROM MY THREE YEAR OLD! Made me see red a bit.

How do we get through to these people when they are confronted with the truth in front of their face and stick their fingers in their ears and say la la la!

I think it was Spruill himself that did that. Or perhaps his legislative assistant. It looked like him though. Anyway

Rant off.

After talking with my husband I found out it was much worse and I should have brought a hidden camera. I had to leave after that little exchange (fussing baby). Apparently he kept on going and a person said "but the constitution says..." and he interrupted her and said "I don't care what the constitution says".....Chris says variants of this conversation happened several times.

Apparently, for this delegate, the constraints of the constitution are of no concern to him. UHG! I don't know if it would have been legal off the top of my head to have a camera there, but he is a public official and this was lobby day. His constituents have a right to know he does not give a darn about the constitution of the United States of America.

Dang, I wish you had brought a camera. Just the episode you witnessed alone would have been worth having a record of. Something great to use when he was up for reelection.

Wow I missed all the action! I was with another group and most of the Delegates/Aids to Delegates we met with were very progun with the exception of 1 or 2. Also met with Steve Martin in a smaller group setting and he was very progun understanding of the original intention of the second. He even mentioned his first gun at the age of 12 was a semi auto rifle that held 22 .22 shorts and that some would have such a weapon banned. Overall it was a good experience. I plan to go next year. Its always good to know that if some gun control measure to does get passed you can look back and say "I put forth my effort into supporting the second amendment."

Why will X not listen to the people? It is time for him to go.

I heard that one state senator thought it was more important to go to DC and watch the coronation of his party leader than to be in session and available to meet his constituents yesterday. He should be docked a day's pay.

(shrugs) Welcome to the "elitists" that run this Commonwealth... Or at least in THEIR minds!

If you remembered the name, I think we should actively campaign against this asshat.

It was Spruill.....I think he represents City of Richmond east side...but not sure on that.

The attitudes you describe match the state reps back in NY. Not good.

But I don't like guns!!

Never mind it appears he is delegate for the district iof Chesapeake and parts of Suffolk, I wonder how some of those good old boys would feel knowing that he was so squeamish about children learning about firearms. I wonder If those good men and women who pledged to defend the constitution with their lives would be pleased to know that he does not care about it.
