VA State Capital Rally Report

Post by ShotgunBlast »

For something without any official organization, the turnout wasn't bad. I don't have a breakdown of how many showed up from where, but it would be nice if the numbers there were just from the Richmond area. When the event is in your backyard it's kinda hard not to show up, especially when I heard someone drove 4.5 hours from SWVA to show up.

I didn't make a fancy posterboard sign (but there were some nice ones there). I did however print up some 8.5x11 signs that said "guns save lives", "shall NOT be infringed", and "criminals don't obey gun laws". Short and to the point with big letters so you can actually read it. I wish I printed out more because the ones I offered to those without a sign went quick!

There were some nice people there. The local CBS and NBC stations showed up to talk to people. If you had your CHP they'd let you inside to use the restrooms too. Around 1pm we started marching along the capital property which got us some well-needed traffic along Broad St. By the time we looped around the property my wife and I had to scoot so she could get to work. I heard someone talking about getting some permits so there could be a bigger event Feb 8. Who knows.

All those guns there and no one got shot. Go figure. :packin:

Here's a picture I took.

Woot woot! It was a great rally for such short notice.

I ended up giving an interview that got first notice in RTD.

Of course, the poor lady looked a bit taken aback by me saying I would use my gun to warn them off I did not have the heart to tell her if the bad guys kept coming I would take care of business.

All I could do was OC around Leesburg. Cash is still a bit short. OK, a LOT short.

Just got to read the interview! Great job Cali! RTD did a good job being fair and not trying to characterize.

Front page article under the fold in today's paper. Two of the signs I printed made it into the picture. MBC's story in the A section as well with a few more pictures. Pretty good coverage all around.
