A Bulgarian politician today survived an extraordinary assassination attempt when a man stormed the stage and held a gun to his head as he was giving a speech.
Fortunately for Ahmed Dogan, leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, the weapon misfired giving him time to react and hit the would-be assassins hand out of the way.
Before he can attempt a second shot the unidentified suspect is tackled to the ground by security guards and delegates attending the conference in Sofia.
That's what I call a close one.

A couple of commenters from that area say it was staged. Hmmm.

Little odd that there are no security or police on stage. Even more curious that there is no perimeter security. And even more odd that the guy is not restrained as he is taken from the palace.

All I have to say is I am glad it wasn't a Glock with HST2. OR I would never hear the end of it.

Here's video, that's what I call an oh s#!t moment..
In the assassins defense the guy is named Ahmed Dogan and documents that were found said he was a collaborator for the Communism Secret Police.

I took a second look and from a better shot of it. Not a Jimenez and some are reporting it was a "gas pistol". There is some speculation over if the assassination attempt may have been staged by the politician in an attempt to gain notoriety but no evidence so far.

Did it misfire or was there never a round in the chamber? To me it looks like someone forgot to rack the slide after inserting a loaded mag.

I agree with Gunderwood. Course hard to tell but I'd put the odds that he never racked one.

If it were stagged then they didn't consult with Poopin. If they had the politician would have ripped off his own shirt, karate chopped the guy in the throat, than Judo flipped him to the floor, and slit his throat with his buck knife. That's how Poopin would have stagged it. The dictator of Russia doesn't mess around...
