With all the coming legislation, I have decided to get my chp finally.
Has any one heard of or used http://www.mycarrypermit.com/
Would you recommend a different class? With my schedule it is hard to get to a class room class.
I have thought about open carry, but worried I may be stopped and asked for a chp if the leo thinks my weapon was covered.
I have a leg holster that sits above the knee, and should be visible at all times from 3 sides. I have heard some leo's may decide to ask for a chp and say they couldn't see the weapon. Has this happened to any one?
Thanks

Good for you! Enjoy your freedom! They didn't have those fancy online courses back when. I think AllInGeneral has this one http://www.concealed-carry.net/index.php
I don't open carry, nor do I really go out with a drop-leg holster. They get me hung up on stuff. So, I can't really answer your question.

Re: CHP online class and open carry
I myself would prefer concealed rather than OC. I don't feel the need to draw attention to myself from anyone good or bad and overall it a little more comfortable. Drop leg holsters just make you look like a wannabe badass IMO. We wear them on boardings so we can wear more outfittings on our LE belts and it gives anither spot to attach Radiation Detectors and the 4 gas analyzer that we always need on boardings. Like GF said too, that dropleg gets snagged on a lot of crap too. Going through passageways you've gotta be a little more aware of the space around your legs. Normally it's not something you worry about.
Just get your license. It's fairly cheap and reasonable, it's super easy to do, and no one will be the wiser unless your weapon imprints.
About anyone getting cited for not having the weapon visible? I dunno. My comment to the LEO would be - if it wasn't visible, then how did you see it in the first place?

Re: CHP online class and open carry
As others have said their are plenty of reasons to prefer CC but I have found that Law Enforcement is not an issue when open carrying. I open carry with a locking outside the waistband(OWB) holster and don't find police hassling me over it. Personally I don't like the whole drop leg holster look. I think it just screams that your trying to look tactical. Drop legs where designed to drop the holster to clear your gear and since your not wearing any gear you have no need for a drop leg holster. I never find my shirt or coat is able to come up over my OWB holster and over my gun barring some very extraneous circumstances.

First, congrats on your decision to get a chp.
My girlfriend got her safety training through http://www.concealed-carry.net/index.php I watched their video as she was taking it and I thought it was very informative.

Thanks for the replies..
I got the drop leg holster mainly for my .22 cal pistol at the range. If I had a belt/hip one for OC I would be worried my jacket would cover it. Of course the 357 wont fit in it.
Getting my CHP will fix that so if I am trying to OC and it gets partially covered ( but I have my CHP on me) then I am ok right?
That is another note I have to post about the lack of quality in my taurus 357...
Thanks!
