Politicians are so logical

Someone can carry a couple of concealed 1911 (with license). But you can not carry a switchblade knife. Not only you can not carry it, you can not own one. Last time I read the second Amendment, it said Arms, not firearms, nothing about hunting, nothing about magazine capacity, ... Arms. So, if you consider a switchblade knife an arm, then We The People should be able to own them and carry them if we so wish. And if you don't consider it an arm, why do you ban them? are they more dangerous than a 1911? I thought that they were more useful as a tool. Firearms have a very specific purpose, but knifes are more of a generic tool, so why make them illegal? and not only switchblade, you can not carry a fixed blade concealed, why? because some politician needs to justify his salary?
oh well... just ranting

, a guy offered me a microtech switchblade for a trade, and I could not take it

In VA, you can only carry one handgun. I agree in principle, though.

Huh? I was unaware that you are only permitted one gun on your person! Where does it say this?

It's a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP)... Not concealed handguns permit. That was hammered into me by a trainer years ago.

Yea... everything is simgular like " J1. Any person permitted to carry a concealed handgun, who is under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while carrying such handgun in a public place, shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. "

Ummmm code cite? Just cause some trainer said so may be good enough for some. That is the title of the permit, but is there a code and a penalty for carrying more than one firearm concealed on your person?

§ 18.2-308. Personal protection; carrying concealed weapons; when lawful to carry; penalty.
That is plural.

Yea, but that's a heading. The text is more singular.
H. The permit to carry a concealed handgun shall specify only the following information: name, address, date of birth, gender, height, weight, color of hair, color of eyes, and signature of the permittee; the signature of the judge issuing the permit, of the clerk of court who has been authorized to sign such permits by the issuing judge, or of the clerk of court who has been authorized to issue such permits pursuant to subsection D; the date of issuance; and the expiration date. The permit to carry a concealed handgun shall be no larger than two inches wide by three and one-fourth inches long and shall be of a uniform style prescribed by the Department of State Police. The person issued the permit shall have such permit on his person at all times during which he is carrying a concealed handgun and shall display the permit and a photo identification issued by a government agency of the Commonwealth or by the United States Department of Defense or United States State Department (passport) upon demand by a law-enforcement officer. Failure to display the permit and a photo identification upon demand by a law-enforcement officer shall be punishable by a $25 civil penalty, which shall be paid into the state treasury. Any attorney for the Commonwealth of the county or city in which the alleged violation occurred may bring an action to recover the civil penalty. A court may waive such penalty upon presentation to the court of a valid permit and a government-issued photo identification. Any law-enforcement officer may issue a summons for the civil violation of failure to display the concealed handgun permit and photo identification upon demand.

Ok.......but carrying more is not expressly forbidden, I was under the impression that if something is not prohibited it is permitted.
I see nothing in there that says you are only licensed for one handgun. A concealed handgun license is a title too just like the title of the section.
Has anyone been prosecuted for this?

I generally carry 3 guns, at a minimum 2. One in my right pocket and one in each sleeve.

Without being a lawyer I have to agree with mamabear. It seems that the permit allows you to carry as many as you want. The permit may cover each of them individually, but still it does not say you need one permit for each one you carrry.

I have never heard of someone being prosecuted for this. What would be the penalty for carrying two? I am not saying you are wrong IANAL, but it seems strange that this was not mentioned in my class a few years ago and I have never heard if this either.

Don't rightly know either. The only things I can find appear to be singular in nature... but that's legalspeak. For all I know, singular is plural and plural is singular. I've been searching and all I can find is the verbage in the above section.
Sometimes I wish Inwere a lawyer.... nah.. LOL
