Anyone know of good customization shops out there near Fredericksburg to do some artistic work on firearms? I'm currently looking at Triton Arms up n Sterling, but its a hella good drive.

I'm not sure how artistic he is, but when I last visited SSG Tactical in F'burg I asked if they know of anyone who does duracoat finishing and they stated one of their guys offers this service.

Duracoating it yourself isn't that difficult unless ya dont have the time or space.

If you are looking to simply have a firearm duracoated I agree with stryder67. If you can use a can of Rustoleum without drips and making a mess then you can duracoat. Look up
http://www.houtsenterprises.net/index.html this is the place I purchased my supplies and I was well pleased with the products, information provided and the results I achieved. Just trying to provide you with a less costly alternative. Happy shooting.

I considered it, but I'm challenged when it comes to mechanics. I'm worried about pulling the "little parts" (trigger mechanism) of the firearm for preparation and being able to get it back together again.

I can appreciate your concerns. I guess it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. In my case I wanted to pretty up an AK47. So I just taped off and stuffed cotton balls where I didn't want the Duracoat to go. In my case it worked out perfect. Bet I have one of the prettiest AKs around
