Re: Got a Desert Eagle
Thanks, guys. I got lucky on that one. When the guy offered me a trade I couldnt even find a pic of a chrome version on the net. Oh and you'll be able to keep up now. I've just bought a house and Young is reminding me that we got lots of money to spend elsewhere
Had too much to do this weekend Bruce but I will be going next weekend maybe before if I can find some time. I'll let you know. Probably be next Sat.

She's a beaut, DK,
Be a shame to keep her cooped up in a CC rig. Looks like an OC gun to me.
Regards,
George

Thanks!! Yes but over in Springfield - right by Lake Accotink. Nice quiet neighborhood off the beaten track. Right now we're at the corner of Edsall and 395.Hiwaytahell wrote:You just bought a house? CONGRATS man WTG...getting out of the CRA?
gfost - you are indeed correct. if I carry that it will be OC, but I think more of a range gun than anything else. I hear those things are real shooters.

Re: Got a Desert Eagle
Thanks guys. I must say that I spent several minutes wiping drool from that thing. It is indeed pretty and heavy too. I'm real anxious to see what kind of recoil it has.
For the house it will be great to spread out a little. We currently live in an apartment on the 3rd floor and its a pain carrying groceries up and getting 3 little dogs ready to go out. Will be nice to open the back door in my skivvies and just run them outside.

Re: Got a Desert Eagle
Thanks, 40. Took it apart last night for an inspection and quick cleaning. Was surprised to see two recoil springs on the guide rod. One large like you would expect and a smaller one. Going to have to look that one up as there is nothing in the manual about it.40shooter wrote:That Baby Desert is nice, real nice. I've already been reminded of that by the beautiful Miss Young. I am actually looking forward to having real work around the house to do though.
Edit: Found an exploded drawing of the BE and it does indeed have 2 recoil springs. I wonder if thats for recoil management or to keep the slide from slamming back to hard.

Re: Got a Desert Eagle
I don't know why it has two springs, my Glock 27 does too. I thoght it was because of the small size of the gun, but that doesn't seem to be your gun's problem.

Thanks, Bill!! Now I'll have a place to set up a proper loading bench and more importantly the knowledge to get on track with some great practice - the right way.SgtBill wrote:Congrat's on the new weapon and the new house.

Re: Got a Desert Eagle
The dual springs help improve the reduction of frame to slide impact when the gun cycles a round ,,also helps to reduce the muzzle flip

Re: Got a Desert Eagle
It does seem to help. I was surprised to see two when I took it apart, but found an exploded drawing that does show two springs.VBshooter wrote:The dual springs help improve the reduction of frame to slide impact when the gun cycles a round ,,also helps to reduce the muzzle flip
I also read the same thing. Reduces slide impact, but didnt notice anything about muzzle flip. The pistol is pretty heavy so theres not a lot of recoil. I was quite surprised and disappointed to see in the manual that it is not rated for +P. Its printed in big bold letters too.
One thing is that the mag springs are very tight. I can barely get 8 in much less 10. I've got a mag loader on order which I'm sure will solve that.
