A friend of mine this morning said something very interesting:
"My hope is that it awakes more like minded individuals before they go full 'Stalin'. The more aware people we have, the more people that start to question what they are trotting as the 'mandate'. I'm hoping that the moderates, the people that may not own guns but didn't have a dog in the fight finally say, 'I see the point of the gun owners on this one and while I may not own, nor agree with them, they are right.' "
I think these Gun Sales may be the wedge that separates the "political" from the "Patriots".

I finally talked my Brother -in- Law into purchasing a handgun. We went to Bass Pro Shop this morning ( they were packed ) and he bought a Taurus "Judge" Stainless 3"Mag. .45/.410 . Other than shooting a Daisy BB as a kid he claims that he has never fired any firearm ! Tomorrow morning that is all going to change...We are going to the farm to really break it in. He also signed up for a weapons safety class and a Class for Canceled Carry Permit.

Now is a good time to decide if you want an AR15 or not, assuming that firearms you currently own would be grandfathered under any new legislation. At the very least, I think we can expect a return to the 1994 ban. Expect to pay a premium on any AR15 platform hardware - if you can find it in stock. Likewise for magazines... Cheaper Than Dirt, Brownell's, Midway USA, and many other retailers will be cleaned out of inventory shortly if they aren't already.
I've started to see pre-ban price hiking on some items. I went to buy a 25-round magazine for my Ruger 10/22 rifle, and it is $50 on CTD's site instead of the usual $25-30ish.
It remains to be seen if the ATF is going to go door to door and start collecting people's rifles. We'll see what mess our country is getting itself into soon enough when congress returns in January.
"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

Browsing around the online dealers, looks like 5.56 ammo is up 25% since Friday, and backordered for weeks.

If you haven't already, take a look at Smith and Wesson's
December 2012 Investor Presentation (the PDF about 1/2 way down the page).

Let's just face one fact. Some people will give up their guns...And some will not.
And put yourself into the ATF's shoes...
You'd need a SWAT team for EVERY confiscation, and that would take time, and effort, and eventually, you'd exhaust your team. I think it'll be the "street sweeper" item. Make them "destructive devices", and if you're caught, you're screwed.
BUT...
I don't think LOCAL, or STATE LEOs who are "OathKeepers", or gunowners would actually assist. I think it'll be like Prohibition, all over.
Anyone wanna stock up on mags, and make some side money in a couple years?

yeah probably not door to door. probably set up collection centers and give a deadline for everyone to turn theirs in. after that if you get caught it's on you...smh

The UK and Australia did both....confiscations of those known to have guns via registrations and drop off deadlines.
Use a gun in self-defense in either country and you'll never see daylight again.

Prep the lawyers, I think if truly challenged properly.
They'd have to RESCIND quite a few of the laws around this country!

I think this country is much bigger than the UK. We have much more usable land than Australia. I think if something like that happens then you will see move towards not calling or trusting the police (even less than most of us do now). In the countryside I think we would see a shoot, shovel, shut-up policy on home invasions and the like. Unlike Australia we have a history of telling our gov't to fly a kite.
If there were to try this sort of nonsense I think it could easily set off another civil war. At this time I don't think that the gun grabbers have the military and the common police loyal or brainwashed enough to pull it off. But I am still calling Warner and Kaine to tell them off, and Forbes to plead for him to be strong on this one.

To show how liberals lie, the WaPo this morning said that there has been a small bump in sales since the shooting.

Took my brother in law out this morning for his first ever to shot his new "Judge" Revolver. He was like a kid at Christmas...He had a great time. He was shaking so bad after the first 5 shots , just a little surprised by the power of the .45 Long Colt. We shot 250 rds. of .45 and 200 rds. .410 3" mag. Then I let him shoot my M & P 15 .22. At 75 yds. he shot several nice patterns. We finished off the day with my Carbon 15 Bushmaster . After 30 rds. he said he will have one by tomorrow ! I just handed him another clip and said I don't have anything that I have to do Friday ! I think he's hooked.
