Like the show or not, I'm sure this is the meaningful change we've been expecting to come from this horrible tragedy.

I wish I could find it, it was in either Slate or The Atlantic, the author wrote an article saying the media needs to throw its full weight behind gun control, like it did with the civil rights movement, feminism, and gay rights.

The media is hand in glvoe with the government anyway.

So so tired of knee-jerk reactions. A child drowns in a pool "hurry hurry mandate 8 foot fences around every pool" a person is killed being stupid with a paintball gun "hurry hurry make a law about that" GRRRRRRR Where are the grown ups in this country that know that the world is not made of marshmellows and rainbows. Where are those that understand that risk is a part of life? So infuriating.

In the first place, it is not the federal government's function, nor do I believe it really has the right, to regulate EVERY DAMN THING that happens no matter how terrible it is. Last time I checked, murder was not, generally speaking, a federal crime unless it was on federal property or involved a federal officer or employee, or otherwise involved a factor that triggered federal jurisdiction. The states need to tell Congress to BUTT THE F**K OUT when they encroach in this manner. Problem is, it's about 100 years to late to make it stick.

That being said, I've always felt like "American Guns" (like most if not all the other "reality" shows, including "Sons of Guns") was so painfully stupid and reflected so poorly on us gun owners who AREN'T morons that on the few occasions I was obliged to watch it, it absolutely made my @ss crave buttermilk. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I actually never watched it.....just hate the knee jerk response.

Perhaps our societies lack of faith in a deity and the afterlife has made us so afraid to die that we don't live. You know I don't fear madmen like that. I do what I can to protect my family. I carry a gun just about everywhere. I take responsibility for my own protect as best I can. But in the end if I die, I die. I am not fearful for me or mine in death.

I agree that the knee jerk response is contemptible. But what else can you expect from the liberal media? They were just exploiting for profit the intense interest of gun enthusiasts; and through their own ignorance of guns, shooting and the gun culture, doing it damned clumsily and in (to me at least) a downright offensive manner. So it shouldn't be a surprise that they're the first rats to leave the ship.

I read a response from Will of Sons of Guns on one of the AK forums that American Guns was actually cancelled months ago. I think the network is just trying shamelessly to get some publicity by announcing it now. SOG is still filming.

I was thinking that. Seemed odd that they would only cancel one of their many gun/shooting shows.
