DE drops reciprocity with VA

Don't see this already posted:
Delaware this morning removed Virginia from the list of states it honors. I believe this was caused by Virginia allowing training to take place over the internet. I am not sure if VA will drop DE. Time will tell. Handgunlaw.us has been updated to show this change in who honors whose permit/license. Delaware Department of Justice - Attorney Generals Office

Delaware, like most of the north east, is a state I avoid like the plague. It has no redeeming qualities and commits highway robbery on I-95 in the form of ridiculously high tolls.

But thanks for the heads-up. I'll add this to my list of reasons I can't stand this region of the States.

A Utah permit will still cover you.

Delaware has gone from a decent state in the middle of the 20th century to a liberal cesspool. I am not the least bit suprised by this. I am glad for many of the gun freedoms we have in Delaware compared to some states like New Jersey and Maryland but I am ashamed to live in Delaware hence we are looking to move and VA is on the short list eventhough they went for Obama and Kaine last election.

A little off-topic (but not too far)

I called the circuit court today where I'm from and informed them that I was looking to get my CHP once I'm back in Va, but I wanted to do it ahead of time. They said even though I'm military and all that good stuff that I still need to show proof that I've done some kind of hunting safety course or some NRA course. Neither of which are here in PR! I've got everything else they need.

Question: Anyone have info on these online courses that the courts accept? I'm pretty dang sure if my CHP request shows up on the judges desk, who knows my family well (small town), with the online deal that's legit and a copy of my Military ID w/ VA Drivers License on top of that he'll sign off on it.

Also, just out of curiosity I asked how busy the clerk was with CHP forms - she said lately they Judge has been preeeetty busy with the forms he's received. In a county of only 12,000 that's quite shocking to me. Heck, they only hold court I believe twice a week haha.

So you can defend the country but places dont trust you witha gun??? ONly in America.

What about MPs? They surely should accept their job as proof they know how to use a gun.

Thanks for your service.

I've yet to be surprised by much on how Americas laws don't seem to really trust military men and women haha. Thank you as well!

A buddy of mine was telling me the other day about that. He was like "they will consider me a potential domestic terrorist since I am a patriot, gun owner, Christian, and ex-military". I told him not to worry that they typically only put white people on that list as he is vietnamese. For some reason the government thinks only white vets can be pissed at the way things are going.

Oh yeah man. I've got 2 black guys at work that speak worse of the government than I do! Haha. Same goes for the Latino crowd too. In general, I've seen most of us military folks about fed up with how things (us) are being run. Even guys that voted him 4 years ago have turned 180 degrees.

Such is life... Standby to standby. Semper Paratus & Semper Fi. You can only trust you and the man/woman behind ya. In the end, it's us out there and not Mr. Politician. Those politicians who've been there done that get kudos from me however.

Exactly. There are patriots of every color and disgraces of every color. Hell when people say racists I am like racists hell. I would vote allen west any day over harry Reid.

The only thing liberals hate more than a white conservative, christian heterosexual male is a minority who is a conservative. Look at how West was treated or what they did to Clarence Thomas.

What you need is in the Virginia law books at http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504 ... d+18.2-308
§ 18.2-308-G-5 Section bolded below

If I remember correctly the documentation is your DD-214. But basically just the paperwork that proves you are Active Military or were honorably discharged. I hope this helps.
G. The court shall require proof that the applicant has demonstrated competence with a handgun and the applicant may demonstrate such competence by one of the following, but no applicant shall be required to submit to any additional demonstration of competence, nor shall any proof of demonstrated competence expire:

1. Completing any hunter education or hunter safety course approved by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries or a similar agency of another state;

2. Completing any National Rifle Association firearms safety or training course;

3. Completing any firearms safety or training course or class available to the general public offered by a law-enforcement agency, junior college, college, or private or public institution or organization or firearms training school utilizing instructors certified by the National Rifle Association or the Department of Criminal Justice Services;

4. Completing any law-enforcement firearms safety or training course or class offered for security guards, investigators, special deputies, or any division or subdivision of law enforcement or security enforcement;

5. Presenting evidence of equivalent experience with a firearm through participation in organized shooting competition or current military service or proof of an honorable discharge from any branch of the armed services;

6. Obtaining or previously having held a license to carry a firearm in the Commonwealth or a locality thereof, unless such license has been revoked for cause;

7. Completing any firearms training or safety course or class, including an electronic, video, or on-line course, conducted by a state-certified or National Rifle Association-certified firearms instructor;

8. Completing any governmental police agency firearms training course and qualifying to carry a firearm in the course of normal police duties; or

9. Completing any other firearms training which the court deems adequate.

A photocopy of a certificate of completion of any of the courses or classes; an affidavit from the instructor, school, club, organization, or group that conducted or taught such course or class attesting to the completion of the course or class by the applicant; or a copy of any document which shows completion of the course or class or evidences participation in firearms competition shall constitute evidence of qualification under this subsection.

As understand it, Delaware did it because the VA permit does not have a photo on it. I applied for a FL non- resident which has a photo. Again, proof of firearms competency for the FL permit is covered by submitting a copy of your DD214.

IN case anyone had not heard that commie B**ch Kane in PA made it so non-res florida permits are not valid in PA anymore. Lots of people think that is only for a PA resident, but that is not the case.
