Neat stuff. Looks like a solution looking for a problem. I do think tablets and smartphones will be around for some time before this starts making inroads in whatever market segment it'll be sold to.

There's a similar portable bluetooth device that uses a laser to project a QWERTY keyboard onto a flat surface.
I don't think we'll have a better user interface than a keyboard and mouse until computers understand spoken language lots better or someone figures out how to do more than the very simple brain wave controls that exist now.

Howdy,
This device turns any surface into an interactive whiteboard, which are currently quite pricey. By projecting a target onto a durable or self-healing surface, and sending an image of the bullet "holes" to a local monitor at the shooters position, it could usher hi-tech into a new generation of shooting facilities on the cheap.

George

Actually, there are some facilities that use sound to score hits. A number of microphones are placed around the range and based on the time delays of the firing sound and the impact sounds, a computer does the mach and figures out which land fired and where the round hit.
One of my buddies worked for one of the companies that was manufacturing this stuff.

Naw, I was thinking of something using real guns and boolits. Put the devices on a LAN and you could score targets on the fly, project different sizes/shapes of targets for different matches, etc. I suppose those laser thingys have their role, but I still like to feel the BANG and smell the powder.

George

About the projecting bluetooth keyboard... Could we go for some kind of Guinness World Record by projecting it downrange while 30 VGOF'ers shoot at it in sync to type a paragraph.
