I went out and waited in line for Dicks to open and the place was pretty packed! There was sizable line for the gun counter and clearly a number of people waiting for background checks. Lots of people buying ammo and some pretty good deals on some shooting stuff(earmuffs and such). Who went and what'd yall get?

Talked myself out of going last night - I'm too old and fat for that drill.

Bass Pro was NUTZ!

Still, got my 50 cal ammo cans, and a pair of bibbed insulated overalls for hunting/camping.

Only took me about 30 minutes... they had GOOD employees moving the lines FAST!

I had to work early today, so no midnight excursion for me. I am gonna try to pick up some ammo today though. Keep your fingers crossed that there's something I can use left. LOL

My family has a rule not to go out on Thanksgiving unless it is to the ER. So I don't care what blah blah blah is on what "amazing deal that will never ever happen again" we dont' go out. Shopped on line Thursday PM, went out friday AM. I got 90% of everything that I need for Christmas. The only "amazing deal" I missed was on two childrens bikes.....so I guess I will pay about $20 more in the end. Oh well I have wasted $20 on stupider things.

I was at Bass Pro as well. Arrived at 1:20am for a 5am opening. I was #5 in line behind 4 women who arrived at 11pm. Temps got down to 28 degrees but the BP staff came out with free coffee and donuts for all. Doors opened a couple of minutes before 5am. I got a beautiful Carhartt coat for $49.99 and some other goodies.

The only place I went on Black Friday was the Cadillac dealership. I needed a car part that was required to make the 2 hour drive back home. Sadly, there was no Black Friday sale in effect. Had to pay the full $145 for a coolant reservoir. I hate when my car breaks while out of town, but at least I was at my parents, and not some strange place. Thankful for that, I am.

I did a fair amount of on-line shopping at midnight, but did not venture out. Mid-morning I took the Youngling out and we hit a few stores to use some coupons that expired by noon. Around 1pm, we ventured into the local Walmart, picked up a few things, and left unscathed.

I considered the Black Friday deal on ammo over at Dicks, but couldn't really justify it right now (since I bought another 1000 rounds at the gun show).

Didn't venture out on Friday but went to babies 'R' us on Saturday.

I think I just found my own personal hell... Parents being rude to each other, babies screaming bloody murder... And young kids ridin around on toys that they know they aren't getting and bumping into people. Never again.
And God forbid I may want to check out Dick's or BP. Thankfully I bought ammo in bulk.

I think you got the Anti-Black Friday deal. Those parts normally run $90.

I stopped by a gun shop just passing through, I overheard the guys behind the desk telling a customer that the background checking was backed up and 2 plus hour waits were all day long and that was at about 5PM. I think the longest I have ever waited was 30 minutes at a gun show.

(shrugs) I think the VA State Tax Revenue Generators were probably more busy ticketing pass thru drivers than background checks. HAHAHAHA

Went over to VA Arms...that place was crazy busy!!! Picked myself up a Glock 19. Plenty of people purchasing guns on Friday.

NOBODY local had that part. The only open junkyard had that part on the day before Thanksgiving; but they crushed the car that it was in on that day. The dealership, sadly, was my only option. Had I been able to hang around until Wednesday, I could have ordered it off of the interwebs, and it would have cost $75.

Went to Dick's Thursday night/Friday morning got 2 of the Mavericks (12 gauge)...one for wife for HD and a 12 gauge 28 in for the daughter. Can't beat that with a stick!

I saw somewhere that the background check system went down twice due to volume.
