Greetings All,

I am Ron. I am a proud product of Norfolk, Va and a proud owner of several firearms. I am also a survivor of a gunshot wound to the lower jaw so I know all too well the harm that a firearm can cause in the wrong hands. Anyway, thank you for having me. By the way, I am out to sea right now but when I come home (hopefully in February), I am looking to purchase a pair of nickel plated or bright stainless finished 1911's. I have already heard the disparaging comments about such(i.e. pimp guns, bling guns etc.). The coolness factor is worth the ridicule imho so anyone who knows where I can find said 1911 please let me know. THANKS!!!

:welcome:

There is nothing wrong with a nickel finish other than making sure it's a quality job so it doesn't flake off down the road.

Welcome! Nickel is pretty durable, but if there is a scratch and the substrate is copper, be careful with the Hoppes. When you get them, you gotta post pictures!

Towards that end I prefer a safer (for me and the gun) solvant like M-Pro 7. I do have some Montana Extreme 50BMG Copper Killer for big bore rifles that copper fowl badly. However, for handguns and most things the M-Pro 7 is more than sufficient.
