I just moved this summer from Arizona to Virginia. I did recently get my Virginia CCW. My organization's HQ is in Colorado. As I was walking through my travel do-list template, I started to get things in order for declaring a weapon for my airline flight. A little birdie landed on my shoulder and told me I better check out handgunlaw.us. Whoa! No reciprocity!

Can someone direct me to a link/office where I can see what, if anything, I can do to get the ball rolling. Guessing there's some state attorney general flak in there somewhere.

I find it interesting that I take my CCW pretty much for granted and am so used to feeling a slight bulge at 3:30 on my hip that when I am without it, I do feel somewhat naked. Got a little lost in the Springs yesterday and ended up in a not-so-comfortable strip mall at ten at night while trying to find my hotel (iPhone died). Ditto with my recent foray into DC last month.

Having recently relocated from GA, I feel a bit of your pain. Not sure if it's the right thing to do or not, but I wrote to the Governor and Lt. Governor of Georgia, explaining that I still travel to the state quite frequently and am usually transporting various quantities of expensive equipment or my family - also quite expensive.

18-12-204. Permit Contents - Validity - Carrying Requirements.

(3) (a) a person who may lawfully possess a handgun may carry a handgun under the following circumstances without obtaining a permit and the handgun shall not be considered concealed: (I) the handgun is in the possession of a person who is in a private automobile or in some other private means of conveyance and who carries the handgun for a legal use, including self-defense.

I checked that out as well but I believe that is referring to residents of the state of Colorado. There is zero flex, I think, for "out-of-staters" who do not carry a CCW that has reciprocity with Colorado. My former docile of AZ had great reciprocity in regard to states that allowed CCW.

It doesn't specify "resident"...so why would you think that?
