What good does it do as as a union though, when the majority votes against their own nation's foundations?

The author calls them ignorant, but its more like spoiled and lazy.

We all love our TVs, iPads, cell phones, mustangs, boats, RVs, Internet and Black Friday deals.

The country didn't change from this election. As the republicans are noticing, the older generation that went through the Great Depression and knows what hard work is are slowly depleting. The younger generation (of which I am a part of) are much more complacent. The demographics have changed.

Bill Clinton caught on to this in his first election: be hip and show up on MTV. Who cares really what the serious issues are that threaten our constitution.

I've tried to teach my kids the founding of our country and their rights, and they DON'T CARE. Two,of which, are voting age. They are more interested in XBOX or what they are getting for Christmas.

My kids rejected faith, but hell, Ghost Hunters is the bomb.

It's not Obama's fault. It's not Romney's - it is where we are at. Culture Warrior spells it out well.

Plenty of old folks voted for Obama to keep their social security and medicare flowing no?

I am sure more voted because of keeping welfare, food stamps, wic, amnesty for illegal vermin and so forth going.

Hell i know its and entitlement but at least social security and medicare are worked for by people. They get a hell of alot more than they pay in most cases but I view an 80 year old retiree who worked their whole life alot different than a "person" who is in their 20s who thinks their private parts are a welfare check producing factory.

Just saying don't blame my generation for this mess like MNM is doing. We grew up in the country the baby boomers gave us and we were educated by baby boomers.

(I'm 30).

With the "give me whatever I think I deserve" mentality we observed growing up is it any wonder most young people are leeches just like their folks (assuming they actually knew them)?

Sorry for your experience, but it wasn't what I observed growing up. My dad worked and still does at 80 years old. My Grandparents were the same. My mother worked two jobs during my high school years. I didn't see them passing down any sort of knowledge to me that complacency was the key.

He'll, my mother these days is screaming for revolution as are some others on this forum. And guess what? She still works at 70 years old.

I guess you had a different experience. I hope you are convinced not to pass that along to your young ones.

I traveled a lot, growing up. I've observed what Kreutz has, and I've observed what MNM has.

When I have observed things similar to what Kreutz has, I was in urban areas. Conversely, when I have observed things similar to what MNM has, I was in rural areas.

I have also noted, that when in suburban areas, I see a mixture of the two.

Another thing that I've noted; in rural areas, not only is it common to see older folks go to work, it's also not uncommon to see children put to work. ( I once watched a 12 year old drive a truck load of tobacco leaves up to the auction house. When I say truck, I mean 1962, standard shift, Chevy dump, pulling a 40ft trailer) Further, I've noted that folks who started working at a young age seem better prepared to face world than the kid who does nothing but play video games from the age of 5 to the age of 20, when his folks finally kick him out of the house.

If you don't mind my aksing, how old are you and where did you grow up?

SHMIV is likely correct, it may be due to where we grew up. I grew up on Long Island in NY, with alot of spoiled kids, but I see that here too, quite a few BMW's being driven by kids who look like they're 12 to high school (I live on the same road as the HS so I can't miss them).

As for my kids, I have too many to spoil them and know it turns out poorly anyway, they're all still very young but those that can have to clean their own messes, dress themselves, be polite, etc. (My oldest is 5)

I'm an only child and my folks tried to spoil me and I refused their help because I didnt want to be indebted to them, it paid off well. My spoiled cousins turned out to be useless sponges and I will not carry my kids any more than necessary.
