Unlike most local disaster response teams who are volunteers, training periodically and only showing up when there’s a disaster, the FEMA Corps will be a paid, full time, standing army of government youth. FEMA Deputy Administrator Sarino goes on to explain, ‘The new members, who range in age from 18-24 years old, will contribute to a dedicated, trained, and reliable disaster workforce by working full-time for ten months on federal disaster response and recovery efforts.’

I love how the article mentions "Hitler Youth" at the beginning, then continues to throw in "youth" or "kids" almost every other sentence to reinforce the connection they're trying to make. You really understand how the author reels about this.
Funny that in this article 18-24 year olds are a bunch of easily-manipulated brainwashed kids, but we'll take the same people and ship them to the other side of the world to die dying in our army and no one dares say anything like that to them.
I don't like this program just on the basis that it seems redundant. Doesn't our National Guard already do stuff like this, other than being paid full-time personal? Doesn't a state governor have to declare a disaster area before FEMA even gets deployed?
I think Obama is going to need more than 231 people to overthrow the government and become our permanent socialist leader.

Meh. Obama's policies hinder job creation, particularly for those "youth." No wonder he wants to employ them at what will likely be useless tasks so unemployment, etc. looks better.
