While reading the park rules, I came across this:
16-5 Weapons
Unauthorized persons shall not carry concealed weapons, nor shall they have on or about their person dangerous or deadly weapons, in public parks or recreational facilities.
Anyone have answers on this?. I thought we were allowed to caryy concealed and open in Parks.

I'm not a %100 sure but I don't think they do. I would contact VCDL they are very proactive on these issue from what I have seen.

Technically, they're correct.
Carrying a concealed handgun means having a CHP...so you are authorized. Other weapons are illegal by statute when carried concealed.
Its a confusing law that doesn't need to be there and should be removed considering 15.2-915.....but its not technically wrong, IMHO.

i agree with PROSHOOTER, the terminology of "unauthorized" persons means someone who is not allowed to carry a firearm. being a citizen you are allowed to carry
