Saw many a long line at the Verizon Wireless stores this morning.

No. No way, no how. I went thru my iPhone fan-boy phase. It was fun for one go-round. With a simple change (the power/docking station coupler) Apple has shown just how arrogant they are towards their customer base. Yet, the Fan Boys line up and gladly shell out the Apple Tax.

lol I wouldn't dismiss it as a product with one change. I watched the keynote and it is a great product both in its hardware and software and there's more than one change that makes it worth purchasing. I'm happy with the LTE phone I got a few months ago so no need to switch to an iPhone now.
I can't imagine camping outside a store for a few days waiting for a product release, but Apple really knows how to put on a show at their stores on release day.

I had about convinced myself to change to an I-phone. But the more I read, the less i think I will. Guess I'll just continue to put up with this cussed Droid. Matbe I just need some other model of Droid. That's it! This ain't the Droid I was looking for. Move on.

I'm pretty happy with my Samsung Fascinate. I'll go to an iPhone once Apple rules the world.

The iPhone is just an evil plot to divert the money we should be spending on guns and survival preps, or something.

Now, guys, just THINK about this a little bit........................
FIRST: - Phones of any kind always wind up in female hands, right? It's like flies on honey.
SECOND: - As to the question of caliber:
We already concluded through vigorous research and debate on this forum that most females are a 12-bore; remember?
FINALLY: in the hands of any female, a phone of any kind is a rapid-fire weapon.
Any more questions, kelu?

I am loving my Droid RAZR MAXX. Not knowing which one you have, one of the negatives about Android is that it can be on a lot of phones, including low-end entry models. You can have a completely different experience with Android just based on what phone you have.
One thing I like about the iPhone especially when I'm giving tech support to my customersis that they're all the same. With Android I have to look at how the specific model phone decided to implement such and such feature.

I've got a Droid Pro. Took me 5 minutes of browsing around in the settings to figure that out. I had no idea what model it was. I wouldn't have known it was a Droid except that when I have to drop the battery out and reboot it occasionally when it locks up, it actually croaks "droid" at me.

You guys are just jealous..... Lol
I love my iPod 4g, iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 3, and MacBook. I played with the cheap crap until I got fed up. Yes, apple is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. My iPhone 4 has been a perfect tool for 2 years. I have never had a phone before it to last more than 8 months. This includes blackberry, Samsung, Sony, lg, you name it. Motorola was the worst of the bunch.
The android operating system is good, but the phones are mostly cheap plastic. If you aren't as rough on it as I am on my phones, I guess you have no reason to be an iProduct fan.
I own Glock pistols and FN SCARs because I only get the best and toughest/ most reliable products. I don't settle for second best. But this is just my opinion.....
If the android works and you like it, rock on! I'll be talking on my iPhone for at least 2 more years....

I fought the smart phone thing for a while. I finally got one in the form of the Samsung Replenish, which is Droid based. It's the least expensive smart phone that I could find, and was priced about $10 more than a non-smart phone comparable to the phone that I was replacing.
I've had this Droid for about 6 months, and I am less than pleased with it. In about 6 more months, I'll be replacing it with an iPhone. I hear very few complaints about the iPhone.

Smart man.
You know, I did my best to avoid crossing over to the apple world.... In the end, I realized it was futile. Once I tried the iProducts I was enlightened to what I was messing out on..... Great product. You pay the premium, but get the best.
Here is a pre-welcome to the dark side......

I went the other way, got sick and tired of my iphone (which at the time I had them the android options were really not). Couldn't be happier with it. The iphone is simpler to use, but that also makes it less capable. You do things Apples approved way or not at all. With android you have more options to configure things to work how you prefer them too. On a technical level there are several important things that Apple would never let me do (e.g. run an app that lets me use my phone to interface with my bikes computer) because they are obsessive about controlling everything and locking their user base in.
The iphone is an appliance, android is a hand-held computer. IMH(O, power users are going to hate the limits Apple puts on them unless their a fanboy. It's kind of a Windows/Linux thing.

I was under the impression (though, perhaps, mistakenly) that Android was based on a Linux platform. So wouldn't it be more accurately described as an Apple/Linux thing?

Bingo.
Having owned both my android "plastic" (Samsung) has held up much better than my iphones (which until 4 were basically plastic too). The plastic is really just the cover, just like the 4/4s/5's glass. Hit is right and it breaks. The one advantage that Apple does have is they don't make cheap versions of their products, while there are a lot of cheap android phones. It's exactly like Mac/Windows. Apples does have nice hardward in their Mac's, but if you can't afford their $1-3k price tag your SOL. We've all seen PCs that cost much less than these smartphones. You wouldn't expect a $300 Walmart special laptop PC to compete with a Macbook Pro, nor should you think anything but the best androids are competition for iphones. The cheaper phones are just that, cheap to hit a price point. Nothing wrong with that, but don't pay yugo prices and expect Porsche performance.
That being said, my wife still prefers the iphone, but I'm glad I don't have to deal with that POS iTunes anymore. WORST SOFTWARE EVER!

I wasn't expressing technical heritage, I was expressing my opinion of generalized usage models. You average user can't use Linux and doesn't want too. They want things "simple" so they choose Windows on the PC because the PC's become an appliance. Iphone is the logical equivalent in the smartphone world.
E.g. I couldn't stand iPhone because of it's limitations, just as I rarely use Windows for the same reason unless I have too. However, I would never give my mother anything but Windows or an Iphone.

Ah, ok. I see your point.
