Republican business owner Scott Van Duzer became a target for Obama critics by submitting one-star reviews online after the POTUS stopped in his pizza joint . Classy.

On a side note, check out the video. Dude gives Obama a monster bear hug. Partisanship aside, can you imagine someone doing that to another modern POTUS and having them take it in stride? Jimmy Carter? Reagan? W? If only that level of coolness could somehow be transferred into better policies.....

So the politically-motivated 5-star reviews aren't morally equivalent?

And how does a grassroots protest compare against elected officials with real, coercive political power telling Chick-fil-A they aren't going to be allowed to do business and serve people in their cities?

Sure, the political polarization of everything has gotten out of hand, but this began with the "permanent campaign" strategy implemented by the Democrats beginning in the 1980s. The Democrats have become the Beavis and Butthead of public affairs, and their debasement of the forum will not end until they are soundly defeated by the conservative majority and their government funding is cut off.

Some think it was staged.

Some think the threat was so low since everyone was already pre-screened.

I think the Secret Service was just too busy hitting on the local patrons.

Yeah, there's enough mudslinging going around for everyone. Some people say he already had great reviews and the 5-stars were just to balance out the 1-star reviews. Whatever. All I know is that my small business can't afford advertising dollars like a national chain can and heavily relies on reviews to get new customers and stay alive in this economy. To mess with that just because you don't like a particular person that came in is pretty crappy.

Oh don't get me wrong, telling a specific business that you are or are not allowed to do business in your city is a prime example of what's wrong with government.

I can't speak on 1980s politics, but I do know that on Nov 5, 2008 the Republicants launched their non-stop campaign to end Obama. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen with the Dimocrats on Nov 7, 2012 if Romney wins. If the Dimocrats are defeated, unfortunately it will be by a Republicant majority and not a conservative majority. Big difference.

Wouldn't surprise me. Seems less unlikely than that the Secret Service was that asleep at the switch.

Maybe. But I figure Obama didn't get upset because he was used to it. I figure it must have been a lot like getting a hug from Michelle.

Yes, a Republican majority is not the same as a conservative majority, but it is a step in the right direction. OTOH, if the Dems keep power, the destruction of America is guaranteed.

It took the Dems a century of creeping incrementalism (with a couple of giant leaps in the '30s, the '60s, and since 2009) to turn our government into a statist tyranny. We aren't going to restore the Constitution in four years. But look at the progress that conservatives have made both in gaining power within the GOP and with the public in the past four years. Now is no time to get disheartened.
