So whats your most "useful" firearm?

So whats YOUR most useful firearm out of those you own? I got to thinking of this last night after having disposed of yet another groundhog.

The 9-mm is fun to shoot and has been very reliable after a 1000 or so rounds. It lives in the nightstand by the bed and I hope it never becomes "needed".

The Garand is just beautiful to look at and fun to shoot, plus has history. The Marlin 30-30, AR-15 and shotgun are all great and I enjoy them all.

But the gun I end up using more than any of the others is the trusty ole bolt-action, scope-mounted Marlin .22 Magnum. Very accurate and has plenty of wallop for most vermin and pests I need to take care of here on the farm. I guess if I was told that the SHTF and I could only keep ONE gun to survive it would be a tough decision but I'd pick the .22.

Of course when the zombie hordes attack I would really be wanting something else........ :ak47:

My Gen4 Glock 22

It's my work gun, and more recently it's become my CCW.

"Most useful firearm", to me, implies that it is and/or has been used more often than any other. That means my most useful firearm would be the the newest edition of general-purpose small-game and target shooting 12-gauge in my arsenal. Right now, that would be the Browning Silver Hunter 3.5" 12 Ga shotgun that stepped into line behind the Browning A-500 that stepped into line behind the Belgian Browning Auto-5 that I used (collectively) to hunt all small game, all waterfowl, and also shoot targets with over the last 40 years or so. Favorite? Hard to say - I love 'em all. Most useful? Definitely.

Henry H001. Handy little lever action 22 that takes everything from CB Shorts to HV Long Rifle in stride. It has put a lot of meat on the table and dispatched quite a few vermin. Besides, it's a hoot to shoot!

"Most useful firearm" Two shooting buddies and myself were having that conversation this past Saturday. We all agreed that we each do have a favorite handgun and a favorite long gun. For me I would have to say my most useful , favorite and all around most comfortable to shoot is my HENRY Big Boy .357 Magnum. It's the one that always goes to the range with me. I usually shoot .38 specials at the range...I buy them in bulk and it makes it very affordable to shoot. I have bought 4 firearms since I got The Henry and I also have 3 other Henry's . but the .357 Mag. is the best !!!

Each of mine has a particular use, as I suppose is the case for everyone's here. I would pick my S&W 642 (j-frame .38) as my most useful, as it's my CC gun.

"Most useful" for me would probably be the Security-Six.

Most useful? The one that hits my intended target.

But seriously, I love my Sig 226 ... absolute tack driver and a pleasure to shoot. I also have a very old 20 gauge over-and-under that my dad gave me about 30 years ago that is a joy as well.

Ruger 10/22. Any of the three variations I own.

I can hunt with it, entertain myself with it, and as accurate as it is? Defend myself with it.

Remington 870 express magnum with a 26" barrel. Shoots anything from 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 inch shells, and handles birdshot to 000 buckshot to large caliber slugs. Good defensive weapon, good hunter, very dependable and extremely versatile. It will feed and defend me and my family. Don't get me wrong, I love my Glocks and revolvers but if it had to be just one firearm, the 870 is a no brainer for me.

My EDC is my Glock30 .45. 2000 rounds of perfection. I've even limp wristed worse than a 6 year old to try to induce a malfunction. It just won't do anything less than function flawlessly.

Next is my SCAR 17S. ;) as far as assault rifles are concerned, there isn't a better platform on earth IMHO. I call it SCARzilla. I even have Son of SCARzilla, the SCAR 16S. The 17 is equipped with an Aimpoint Pro M2 and Whichever light if feel like using. I also have a nice sharpshooter set up that switches out the Aimpoint in favor of a 3-9x52 Redfield Revenge with Accu-reticle and a nice C&G telescoping bipod. The 16 is equipped with a nice C-more railway, an aluminum shorty foregrip, and any flavor of light. Both will shoot any ammo flawlessly. Having fired over 1000 rounds in each, I have complete faith in them both as neither has so much as flinched. Perfect!

Next up is my Mosin Magant! I can shoot the nuts off a gnat at 100 meters using iron sight with this thing. It's got no frills, no scope, no lights..... Just a bolt and a trigger. To be honest, the trigger on it is actually exceptional. One of the best I've ever felt.
I can used this rifle as a paddle, a tent prop, a battering ram, and the list goes on. Oh yeah, it came with a pretty cool bayonet.

Hands down my Ruger P345. 900 plus rounds through it and it has yet to misfire or jam using my preferred ammunition (Speer Gold Dots +P 200gr HP's).

Mine is a Savage .308 Rifle as it puts meat in the freezer and dinner on the table.
