Not at all. They put in their platform that they want taxpayer-paid abortion on demand. Not much choice there for the vast majority of citizens who don't want to pay for other people's abortions.

Liberals are only satisfied if you can be allowed to perform procedures to exterminate human babies that would get you jailed for if you performed them on your animals.

Yes, but aren't Republicans just as anti-choice when it comes to thing they don't like or presume are bad choices? Drugs and prostitution immediately come to mind for individual choices. War drafts come to mind for state decisions. Etc.

Just a thought.

Republicans are not pro-draft. In fact, other than Lincoln, I can't think of a Republican president who instituted a draft. It was Charles Rangel, Democrat of New York (and the Caribbean) who most recently proposed reviving the draft.

Short answer, yes they are. But, then, Republicans don't really campaign on "Right To Choice" platforms, either; at least not to the extent that Democrats do.

Really, though, comparing the mass murders of unborn babies to drug use and hookers isn't the best comparison. While I'm not one to get in the way of a mans desire to destroy himself on drugs and pay for mediocre sex with some relatively nasty women, I can understand the objection. Drugged up people get diseases from their drug use, then do violent things to people that are not a party to that drug use. Both end up drawing blood, the disease gets passed. Same thing with hookers; guy gets a disease and takes it home to his wife.

Republicans for the most part do not expect the GOVERNMENT to pick up the tab on their choices though.

Even though they're forgetting that quite a few born children would end up on food stamps, and welfare.

Neither side is doing well.

They both are indignant. How about the government worrying more about infrastructure of roads, and bridges, and less on individual's womb, or praying in school?

I'm more concerned about the BRIDGE collapsing!

Personally, I'm tired of Obama's "shovel ready jobs" around here - especially when I see a perfectly good highway surface being stripped off, ground up, and replaced by a fresh layer of asphalt for no other reason than to spend money.

I heard that. Just this year, they took a perfectly fine portion of 199, here in Williamsburg, and did just that. THEN, not even a month later, they did the exact same thing to the exact same piece of 199!

The bad thing is, though, we have some back roads that haven't been resurfaced in decades. We also have two other roads that have been washed out in the middle. One for about 10 years, the other for a longer piece of time.

ummmmm there is a world of a difference between murdering someone that is inconvenient to you (which is what abortion is at its core) and not being able to use your recreational drug of choice or heaven forbid obtaining financially procured companionship. Those of us that are purely pro-life see abortion as the exact same thing as a parent deciding that their four year old two year old and newborn are too much of a burden so they take their gun and shoot them all in the head. Just because we can't see the gruesome nature of what happens and just because it is a person in a white coat doing it does not mean that it is any less horrific or any less murderous.

The three items have limited similiarites. If you get right down to it I am ok with certain drugs being legalized (and letting survival of the smartest take place), other drugs I would like to see the possession of small amounts punishment being reduced to rehab. On prostitution, it would be ok with me if we could ensure that the women were choosing this of their own choice. The problem there is most are not. So lets say you set up a place like Las Vegas where prostitutes are legal and state certified clean. Great....they still have a problem with uncertified prostitutes and they are still locking those up. They just shifted the problem.

Does one have to be a Christian to value human life? Would not a moral secularist be equally horrified by the murder of children?

Not really. I can't say I've ever known one "pro-life" secular humanist, and I've known many.

Let me flip that on ya and ask, since I know you're a Christian, isn't God himself pro-choice in that we have free will given from him and can murder any other person at any stage of their life if we so choose, for whatever reason we choose?

I find the terms pro-choice and pro-life kind of misleading. We all have choice (see above), and I really don't think many (if any) that choose abortion are so much "anti-life" per se, just making a choice they rationalize as morally correct.

The fact they have been force-fed this their whole lives would also explain why they may think that.

Though I must append a hypocrite disclaimer here, I myself ended a very long and awesome friendship with a woman when I found out she had an abortion, as I could not respect that choice and was unable to see past that when dealing with her after i found out.

Now there's a position. "Pro-choice" with a little "not in my back yard" thrown in. Maybe there should be a "don't ask, don't tell" policy when it comes to this.

The short answer to the first question is no. There is a strong anti-abortion for atheists, too, based on equality of human rights. All that remains is to decide whether the child in utero is a living human being. Opinions on that question differ.
