It's been a month and a half since the Aurora shootings. How many of you changed behaviors since the shooting?

Me? I decided a shotgun in the house wasn't enough, and I started doing some networking (like here).

Switched out from the .380 Mustang to the Glock 19... Still carry concealed, but less concerned with "printing", I'm not breaking any laws.

I still avoid movie theaters. No, not because of a fear of another shooting, but because the price for two tickets, a bucket of popcorn, two sodas, and some Milk Duds is about $75.

OUCH! I think we can get 2 tickets for around $14. We refuse to drink the brnd of soda they sell, so we just drop 2-3 cold cans of our brand down into a big old purse that SWMBO has for just that purpose (I won it as a doorprize at a golf tournament - she otherwise wouldn't have bought it or carried it on a bet). We buy a small bag of unbuttered popcorn for around $5, and we're gone to the movies. Guess the proximity of all that guv'mint spending up there just inflates the cost of everything for y'all. Trouble is, that it's so cussed hard to find a movie I even think I MIGHT want to watch. I still sit as close right in the dead middle of the room as I can get. Maybe the worst place to be, but they're good seats.

As for what I do different, I do make it a point to check out not only the exits, but also the other moviegoers as much as I can. Haven't decided what I'll do if I ever spot one that looks nutty enough to worry about - probably leave. The other thing I do is just quietly slip my Sig P238 out of my console and into my pants pocket without telling SWMBO. She'd just worry.

I used to carry nearly everywhere anyhow, and have always been more aware of my surroundings than most. I carry in a few places where I would not before (not breaking any laws), and less likely to get a beer with dinner, just so I can remain armed. I don't leave the house without being armed, even to just walk the dog down the street.

Fiancée now has her own pistol and is going to get her CHL. She open carries now when walking the dog alone.

To be fair, there were other factors in my decision to carry. The area around my workplace has seen an increase in robberies and attacks in the past year, and I do occasionally work into the wee hours. Amusingly...no...sadly, this is within a block of Charlottesvilles police station.

In addition to that, I anticipate there will be some form of... cultural friction... after the election, regardless of who wins. Depending on the victor, the issues I am concerned about may play out in either weeks or years.

All that and I came up with "It's better to have and not need than to need and not have."

Amusingly, I handled an AR for the first time in years the other night. Muscle memory is a funny thing. It had a magazine in it for display. The proprietor handed it over, I dumpled the mag, rolled her to the left and pulled the charging handle back to make sure she was clear. After admiring it a bit, I started to put it back in the condition it was handed to me. As I picked up the magazine, the hand managed to get up around eye level before the old CPU picked up something funny going on. I had to will my hand to stop to keep it from rapping that magazine two times on the helmet I turned in some 25 years ago.

That would smarted.

I'd carry concealed Jake... I know they've no signs posted (went Sunday), but more along the lines of not delivering any "tells" to any "squirrels".

I'm fine being the "surprise party" they weren't expecting.

I haven't changed much of anything that wouldn't have been changed, anyway. I've even been to see a movie. My plan for the surprise attack was blown, though. My girl and I were the only ones in the place; we'd have been targets, no matter what. Oh well; as much as it cost to be there, I figured that I'd do best not to sweat the things that were out of my hands and just enjoy the show... which is precisely what I did.

Of course, I never changed a thing about my lifestyle after 9-11, either.

Not much. Still don't go to movies. But I guess it has made me think about what I carry. In the summer I carry an LCR pocket carry. I live near the beach and wear shorts and sometimes am shirtless (cover your eyes lest you go blind). When I know I'm going to a less "friendly" area I carry my G22 and 1 or 2 extra mags. But I am questioning the accuracy and firepower of the LCR. It's more for an up close encounter.

No option I'm 18 so OC or NoC. I guess I'll find out next time there is something worth seeing.

I have changed Nothing, just carry on as usual. We generally don't go to see movies as I have very small children, and as a young adult when I did not have children I hated when other people would bring their screaming child to an non child friendly movie and would let them scream and ruin the experience I paid for. Now if I went to a muppet movie I expected kids to be there, but not so much at like silence of the lambs. =)

I haven't been to a theater in a long long time. The 52 inch flat screen, the netflix subscription, and my own comfy couch just seems like a much better experience nowadays.
