Bill here.

Just joined. Live in Northern VA, shoot a Mississippi Rifle. Am addicted to it.

Anybody know where I can get musket caps and Ballistol oil in the Northern Virginia area?

:welcome: to the forum Bill. Depends on where you live. If you're anywhere near Fair Lakes they've got a huge Dick's that has almost everything.

Thank you, my friends.

I 've called all around, and it seems that Northern Virginian sporting goods stores are not attuned to the needs of historical muzzle-loader addicts, so I will have to do most of my supplies-buying online. Dixie Gun Works, Blockade Runner, Fall Creek Sutlery, etc.

By the way, I am determined to try 200 and 300-yard shooting with my musket once I've got those 100-yard bullseyes down pat.

Pics of the black powder stuff would be nice. i used to own 3 pre civil war .69 smoothbores, a model '16 converted to percussion, a model 21 converted to percussion and a 1841 conversion. Sold them all before my son was an itch in my pants and now he is pestering the hell out of me about selling them.
You will love these guys here. Good people. Welcome again. :friends:

Sorry - couldn't help myself. I will refrain from commenting again about how many Dick's you've seen in order to make that comparison. Aren't you glad that I have a good amount of restraint? :)

Gee thanks, Rick. I do appreciate that. By the way, did I mention that was the largest Dick's I've ever seen?

Bill54, there are a lot of historical muzzle-loaders in NoVA. You might want to check Clark's gun shop, just a few minutes south of Warrenton in Fauquier County, on 29, near the junction with 17.

Thank you, my friends.

I agree that Clark Bros is a great store.

I've been shooting at Clark Bros' range once or twice a week now since I first unpacked my Mississippi rifle, but I still find it hard to get at least half of the muzzleloader's supplies that I need anywhere around here. I am buying online the things I can't find there.
But Clark Bros is first class. Excellent place to shoot, and they will do their best to order the stuff that you need.

Fordmechanic, was your "1841 conversion" a Mississippi rifle converted to breechloader?
