The NYPD has found a way to make the gun-free zone even more dangerous than usual.

---

From FOX News

NEW YORK – All nine people wounded during a dramatic confrontation between police and a gunman outside the Empire State Building were struck by bullets fired by the two officers, police said Saturday, citing ballistics evidence.

The veteran patrolmen who opened fire on the suit-wearing gunman, Jeffrey Johnson, had only an instant to react when he whirled and pointed a .45-caliber pistol as they approached him from behind on a busy sidewalk.

Officer Craig Matthews shot seven times. Officer Robert Sinishtaj fired nine times, police said. Neither had ever fired their weapons before on a patrol.

The volley of gunfire felled Johnson in just a few seconds and left nine other people bleeding on the sidewalk.

Them perfessionals are good. Sixteen rounds fired, ten hit the gunman, and still managed to injure nine others.

I assume Hizzoner and the NYC taxpayers will be shelling out for the collateral damage.

I presume their retirement started today. Shameful, and requires deep soul-searching among the Mayor, the PD command, and the union - if anyone in any of those three groups even has a soul.

It will be interesting to see if mayor stoogeberg blames the evil guns in this incident or the ones pulling the trigger.

Insane. The "only the po-leases should have the guns" and "only the po leases have training so you shouldn't have a gun" argument is BLOWN UP FOREVER!

Here is a video of the shooting. Note how one of the officers (on right) is both moving and shooting with one hand. How many practice this?

With that many innocents shot, perhaps the NYPD went into "Death Blossom" mode?

"Retirement"? Naw, paid leave. The most awful punishment known to man.

There will be no deep soul-searching among those named as they have no soul to search.

Commissioner Ray Kelly is so far up King Mikes ass he may as well be a colonic polyp that gained sentience.

IMHO, you can clearly see that from how they were acting right before the shooting started.

Wonder why the guy never got off a shot at the cops - suicide by cop intent? Gun jam? Other?

well you have to wonder; if you are a cop and you see a suspect shoot someone down and he has a gun in his hand and is threatening others, do you risk shooting him and maybe injure bystanders or do you not shoot and let him shoot 3 or 4 more of those bystanders?
