VA 30 day wait between purchases confusion

What a great resource you all have here! I'm new to firearms and hope someone can clarify the 30 day wait between handgun purchases for me. If I purchased a handgun on July 6th, when can I purchase another one? Is July 6th day 1 and today (August 4th) the 30th day, meaning I can buy tomorrow? Or was day 1 the day after I purchased, making tomorrow day 30?
I know a CHP will make this a non issue, I'm actually waiting for that to finish, submitted my application already, but I have some time off and am anxious to hit the range with a new handgun
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
The law says 30 days but doesn't tell how to count the days. I wouldn't count the day I purchased a handgun, I'd start counting the next day. If there is not 30 days between a purchase the VSP will put a wait on you until there is so If you were to go on August 5th IMO you should be ok. There is also an exemption available through the VSP to purchase a handgun less than 30 days after buying one. See the VSP link on the left for more info.

I called the
VA FTC and they are saying tomorrow, so I should be good to go then. Thanks all!
