Government Will Take Almost Half Your Paycheck in 2013

How high is the marginal tax rate on each additional dollar the average American earns? In other words, if you got a raise of one dollar, how much of that dollar would be taxed away? These rates are already high, and they’re getting higher next year.

It is outrageous that any dollar earned by a middle-class taxpayer would go as much to taxes as to supporting the taxpayer’s family. The government didn’t earn the taxpayer’s paycheck and shouldn’t be entitled to it.

The marginal tax rate is applied to taxable income, so even 50% would not be half your paycheck.

Ya, that list is misleading at best. It has Maryland as being lower than VA, which technically, given the constraints of the list, is correct. However, if you consider all taxes, fees, etc. MD is worse than VA. The Dems are always harping on how low our taxes are, but only if you stack the deck like this list. If you count all forms of money being transfered to the government, we're right up there with Europe and over 50%.

Yes, someone does have to pay for it. I was just noting that comparing specific tax rates can and is misleading because it ignores all the other money government takes. If you want to compare "taxes," the best way IMHO is the total money taken by all levels of government. If the Feds take my money or the State or local, I don't really care, it's still gone. If they take it as a tax, a fee, or whatever, again it's gone. When you consider all the money our government takes from us, our taxes are not low in any way. We are right up there with the most taxed nations in the world and above 50%.

A couple of the posters to this thread make me wonder if the data ports in their necks by which they download the democrap, HUFFPO talking points while they sleep are RJ 11's or RJ 45's! Nevermind, RJ 11's would never make the transmission rate for that amount of crap.

Fact is ANY amount of taxes deducted for expendatures not authorized by the Constitution are stolen...
They aren't "lost government revenue" or dollars that the govrnment owns and may return to you if you say "mother may I"
