Leaving AR in the trunk

Quick question...
If the bossman and I want to take a long lunch and head to the range, is it OK for me to bring my AR to work and leave it in the trunk? I know I'm fine with my range bag and pistols, but I'm curious about the AR... wondering how it would fly if I was pulled over on my way to work. My office is in Falls Church, FWIW.

so a question to answer the question...
If you know you are fine with handguns, what's special about a long arm that makes you think it might not be OK to have?

It's an assault rifle. Far more dangerous than any handgun or hunting rifle ever could be. It's black, it's scary. And I just want to make sure my A is covered.

Do you mean greater Falls Church, or Falls Church City?
The difference being more tree hugging hippy-types in FCC who might flip out at seeing a "big black baby-seeking assault rifle".

then wear pants
Rifle in the trunk, unloaded, should be fine.
If you get stopped.... DONT scream I've got a gun to the cop. And don't tell them that you have firearms in the car unless asked.

If there's anything I've learned in my 27 years it's that pants are overrated.
I need to look over the code to make myself feel a little more comfortable.
And yes, my office is in Falls Church City.

Can you describe your vehicle so I can stop by and relieve you of that dangerous weapon while you're dining?

Don't worry, you could mount it on the hood and the police would be laughing so hard they couldn't talk anyway.
