Here's my pistol. There are many like it, but this one is mine! It fires like a dream and is as accurate as I need it to be. I wish I could find a Tritium bead to add to the front sight for low light conditions, but other than that it's a great gun. One of these days, I may break down and get some laser grips for it so I don't have to worry about seeing the front sight.

I have a Ultralight in dark blue and I love it.

Accurate as all get out and light as a feather.

Shoots easy too-even with 95 grn +P hollow points.

Taurus gets alot of negative internet buzz about it's guns but I have owned three Model 85's and all of them have been great.

I have the 85BUL and it is a great pistol. It will become my wife's CCW.

i sold an 85 with a factory bobbed hammer, double action only. it was a great carry gun, but the cylinder would scrape just a little bit on the forcing cone when pulling the trigger.

I found the titanium UL to be a handfull to shoot. Now I have the Taurus .327 magnum. I find it easier to handle with considerably more punch. Of course, being stainless, it is heavier but it is really too big to pocket carry and in a holster the weight isnt so important.

I am really leaning towards this one to buy for a carry gun. I saw a dark blue one with a gold trigger and faux pearl grips. I know, I know don't say it...but it was a beautiful gun.

It's a shame you sold it. This would be an easy fix with a lead babbet bar the same as you would fix a S&W revolver.

I put about 125 rounds through my Taurus 85 yesterday and my trigger finger was very tender from being pinched between the trigger guard and the trigger on recoil.

I believe I'm going to start keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a 1911 in .45ACP to play with at the range next time

I had a 1911-A1 that my Dad carried in both WW2 and Korea. I had it during Viet Nam. I gave it to my youngest son Jimmy when he went into the Marine's. Just a few mos. ago I gave my oldest son Bill Jr. my Smith & Wesson Md.#645 double action .45 cal. pistol in Stainless steel.
I no longer have a .45 auto but I do have a .40 cal. Glock.

If you directed that to me, Gary, I know, but I want to see a .327 vs .38 side by side. I've seen them individually but can't find a picture of them together for some reason.

I'm trying to get this together for you for the side-by-side comparison. While searching for images, I came across this Ruger revolver that was apparently over-pressured. I'd hate to be the guy holding a revolver when something this catastrophic happens!

I'll say one thing about that Ruger picture- people can disagree if they want- stay away from reloads unless YOU did them. My uncle has a S&W 38spcl mounted on a wood block to remind him of that. My father was firing it, my cousin had done the reloads, the casing/cylinder/top strap are all peeled back.

Sorry, no side by side pics but I believe the .327 is built on the 605 frame that Taurus uses for its small 357. Maybe you can find one of those to compare. Also, I dont know where you are located but one local store here has a blued 327 and Im pretty sure an 85 in stock. Its called the Fishing Hole on route 460 in Wakefield.

The Range in Stafford sells reloads. They've run that way for years without problems. I've personally shot hundreds on 'em in 9mm and .45.
It's because they're a business they have to be so careful though. I'm sure they're very strict on the process.

I agree re: 605 frame. I was looking at that also. A little more research on that angle indicates that the 605 frame is also the same frame used for the Taurus 85 series (38SPL). So, size-wise, the 327 is pretty much the same with a 2-inch barrel and a four finger grip. It also uses a 6-shot cylinder instead of the 5-shots in the .38 specials.

The 605 is comparable in size to the S&W J-frame.

It is the 605 frame but it doesnt have the bite of the .357. I dont find it uncomfortable to shoot though it is loud in the magnum tradition.
