Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

Hey guys,

New member here who is relatively foreign to firearms but I'd like to learn. I live in NJ (for now) but go to school VA. Just wanted to say hello and I'd love to learn about firearms before a purchase down the road

I'm interested in firearms in a responsible manner and I might be pursuing in a law enforcement career so I figured it would be a good idea to join a forum. (i'm on several forums, i'd like to stick around here as often as I'm on my other ones )

All of us can be active in law enforcement. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. I carry a handgun because I can't carry a cop. Welcome aboard!

If you can make it to some of the shoot and greets I'm sure you'd learn a lot, I suspect that there would be someone there who would let you shoot a little too.

what a great and friendly crowd, thank you all very much. i'd sure love to come out to a range with some members and learn to shoot the right way. i'm not native to the northern va area, i'm curious where are the ranges?

You're in Fairfax and the NRA range is by far the best. There are also others.

Hello Scott, Welcome to the forums.

If your moving to Fairfax you will need to let us know if your on the east or west side of the county. There are a few ranges on the west side but really only one on the east side. SharpShooters, formerly Gilberts. So anyway, let us know when you do get in the area and maybe some of us could meet up with you and take you shooting.

Ah yes, I thought you might be coming to Fairfax City. Good observation. Sharpshooters is the only range on the East side of Fairfax county. At least that I'm aware of. I have heard rumors that they were going to rebuild Shooters Paradise but I think those died down.

I still drive by what is supposed to be the new range but I've yet to see any movement there. Its not going to be a new Shooters Paradise. I just can't remember the name of the range right now. Its on the Building permits that are hanging on the doors.
