These numbers are way too close. We need to do better and have more machineguns!!

All of the CA machine guns are most likely owned by movie companies.

Wow I though for sure AZ would be up there!

I ask again, will someone please tell me where the OP got the information he posted?

That's all registrations. While Illinois' number probably has a few grandfathered private registrations, almost all of them are either government guns or those held by manufacturers.

This applies to Virginia, of course - I would hazard to guess that at least two-thirds of the number registered in-state are government guns or are held by manufacturers or importers (we do have a few big import ops here).

The ATF produces a yearly report, that is where the numbers come from. As others have pointed out, the very high numbers in unlikely locations have to do with manufacturing activities, importers or government held weapons...yes even the government has to deal with the ATF.
