Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the U.S. before they turned 16 (how do they prove that?) and are younger than 30 (we go by the birthdate on what documentation?), have been in the country for at least five continuous years (again how do they prove it), have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military.

Edit: it is a difference between left and right, but not between democrats and republicans. This is what I have learned so far.

Have to be, I was wondering how many votes he planned to get by doing this and remembered they can't vote, so why did he do it?

He's pandering to the Hispanics for votes. It's just one more indication that there's nothing he won't do to hang onto his office. Funny thing is, about a week ago he was making speeches bragging about how many people his administration had deported.

In thinking about the questionable legality of President Obama’s immigration policy change, I thought it might be useful to quote a Harvard-educated constitutional legal scholar — Barry Obama:
With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed — and I know that everybody here at Bell is studying hard so you know that we’ve got three branches of government. Congress passes the law. The executive branch’s job is to enforce and implement those laws. And then the judiciary has to interpret the laws.
There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply through executive order ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President.

You forgot one thing. They can't legally vote... yet, that doesn't mean they won't be voting, legally or illegally.

There are a lot of hispanics out there who CAN vote. THAT is who he's pandering to. BUT, in a world where the feds don't want to allow states to require valid ID of voters, WHO KNOWS how many invalid votes will be cast?

true, but with Chi-town style voting policies, why even keep the illegal when you can just make up three votes for every illegal anyway?

Obama, to date, has signed 129 executive orders. In eight years, W signed 291 (two terms). Who signed the most? FDR. In 4 terms he signed over 3,000 executive orders.
