Dunno how I feel about this. At first? I didn't like Gander, but on occasion, they had things on discount, and for prices that weren't too bad.
As to Green Top taking over their building, and location, anyone could have seen that coming.
I do wonder what "Meaningful discounts, and promotions" means with Gander's statement.
Thoughts? Comments? Rants?

I don't see very many people in there when I go to Gander Mountian. I have bought a couple of guns there.
Guess GT will be raising thier prices to pay for the new building now!!!

Like Gander Mountain or not, competition is always good for the consumer. Less competition makes it less good for us.

Wow - I remember when GM and BP both moved in. It was clearly a direct move on Green Top's market. Good on them for staying loyal to customers and coming out on top.

Awesome for Greentop! Now the icing on the cake would be a shooting range opening up under Greentop as well.

Not much of a "liquidation". They're probably looking to move the merchandise to other GM locations.

First thing i thought when i heard that was..."wow, and to think i didn't think green top could get more expensive" lol.
Good for them i suppose. At least they carry reloading gear.

As i said before the are going to liquidate most thinst in the store i walk to the store manager Friday and he told me almost everything in the store will be on sale, the item's not on sale are guns, boats, bows, Gunsafe's and a maybe one or two items everything else is fair game.

Personally I've always found Green Top pretty competitive. Generally only beaten by Walmart or Dicks, neither of which have competent employees offering assistance.

It's not just the prices really. It's their attitude. I know i have read about many similar accounts. They always have a high and mighty demeanor, and maybe its cause i look young they assume im just some punk looking to buy a gun i know nothing about...that and on more than one occasion I've heard the term "clip" come from behind the counter.
That grinds my gears so much. Clips go in a girls hair, not guns.
although it cant be as bad as one particular store in springfield that openly tells its customers you can have sbr parts as long as they are not assembled until your approved stamp is received.
Now i never heard of anyone getting in trouble for "constructive intent", but the atf still stands by that and i don't think it's right that a dealer tells its customers something that can get them locked up for 10.

That's another thing that I haven't experienced. Every time I walk in there someone asks if I need any help and is more than willing to be of service. Normally I get blown of at gun shops because on my younger age but Greentop is always friendly when I'm there. When was the last time you were there? I understand at one point the attitude was bad and the prices were high but their since under new management.

"Gander start it lkiqudation sale sunday June 3rd with 20 to 30% off most items"
Well, I have never seen Gander Mountain's parking lot so full, and speaking of "full", they're full of "SHITE"!
My "Jew-di" powers allow me to calculate percentages like a Texas Instrument, and on MORE than one occasion, with that sign saying "20% OFF!" I double checked the price, and they only took 17-18%...
That's not alot, but you know? Multiple that for every sale, and for those who DO NOT calculate things in their head. I saw people in there buying TONS of fishing gear, and I was thinking "Maybe the good sales are in fishing."
NOPE! I can still get the items I need for LESS at WAL-MART/GREEN TOP!
Looked at a tent. For it to be worthwhile purchase, it needs to come down from $229 to $167 (lowest price I found online at a dealer I trust). Right now? $187.20. Not... worth it.
I ain't trying to be a hard ass, and I have shopped there BEFORE everyone and their brother went up there today, but I SWEAR it feels like they JACKED prices BEFORE they put the SALE prices in!

You don't work there do you haha jk. I think the last time i was there was last fall. I really haven't had a need to go back. I order ammo online or at gun shows, accessories go through midwayusa, guns are through various dealers I've met and nfa or gunsmithing needs go through rick at tti
If their ammo prices have come down since then i may check them out when i head back to tti to pick up my can.

If only! I currently tell you much about their ammo prices. My shooting range requires I buy their ammo.

I swung by GM after teaching today. Picked up some snap caps for training for 50% off.

Anybody go in there to see if they're getting even more "discounted"?
