The army has suddenly desided they don't like PMAGs and all other 3rd party mags.

Someone in the aluminum magazine business just made a big contribution to the Obama campaign.

How many lives will it cost?

Knowing the current administration it;s probably something as stupid as the EPA thinking the plastic hurts the damn sand or causes goats to get high or crap funny..

lol VBshooter!!

Wonder who makes the new improved mag? 7,000,000 units on order is a whole bunch of green. Not familiar with either mag, in a combat situation wouldn't the firearm also play a role in incorrect feeding and was that taken into account? Kinda reminds me of when the army banned Dragon Skin armor for no good reason

Let's see, around 1 million rifles X 7 magazines equals about 7 Million magazines. Probable cost was under $10 each. Definitely a lot of money to you or me, but a small amount compared to the 500 billion+ defense budget.

As for the Dragon Skin, it cost about 4 times as much as the Interceptor Body armor (IBA) and 3 times as much as the Improved Outer Tactical Vest(IOTV), plus it did not meet Army specifications, calling for a separate replaceable plate system. It may have offered a similar level of protection. It would be comparable to having a specification for a pistol calling for a separate engage-able safety and complaining that Glock was cheated.

In a new development,l the Army has clarified it's position.
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2012 ... ESRC=eb.nl They have changed their position to warning against using magazines that haven't been tested by DOD. It's splitting hairs, but it is an improvement.

My horoscope for today:

"Are you feeling intimidated by an intellectual who's just popped onto the scene? Don't be! The more they talk about how much they know, the more obvious it will become that they don't really know what they are talking about. So just let them hog the spotlight for as long as they want, and they will quickly prove to everyone just how smart they aren't. True intelligence is all about knowing that you don't know everything -- be humble, and keep learning."

Well, that just came to fruition from the above military brass.

Dang. Right up to the end, there, I thought you were talking about a couple of our more contentious liberal-leaning posters. My bad. :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
