.308, Only composit is the buttstock, the rest of the chassis is aluminum. It's a #@$@# tackdriver. Just wish .308 was not a buck a bullet. I don't have a video but there is one on Brownells, TAC-21.

That's what a reloading press is for.

Seriously considering that reload press. Was looking at a nice Dillion progressive press with all the bells and whistles.

I've got a dillon 1050, and 550 so if there is anything you want to know... just ask.

Quick survey of components tells me I should be able to make 308 for +/- .50/round with high quality match bullets.

If you are new to reloading and in the NoVA/North-central VA area I would be happy to work with you and get you started.

Was looking at the dillion 650 xl and 1050.

1050 has a primer pocket swager. NOTHING out there that is availble to the hobbiest will de-crimp, and uniform a primer pocket faster or easier for a large volume of cases.

1050 is a 'commercial' machine and DOES NOT have dillons lifetime no-bs guarantee. However being a commercial machine it is build considerably heavier than a 650.

1050 takes quite a bit longer to do caliber changes than a 650. 20-30 min to change over on the 1050.

1050 caliber change kits are quite a bit pricier than the 650. I think for a full change kit less dies I'm looking at $275 per caliber, 650 kits are $110.

If you are not loading 3-5k before a caliber change then you might not like the 1050 as much as the 650.

Speed. The 1050 has the 650 beat. My first day with the 1050 I was easily running 1200/hour. With me and the girl working the process I could _just_ barely keep up with feeding her cases, bullets, and primers as fast as she was going through them. After that evening it almost feels that a 1050 with a bullet feeder is just about a 2-person operation to make maximum productivity.

If you are getting into either the 1050 or the 650 look into the bullet feeder options from Mr. Bullet feeder. They will probably bump your loading rate by 50% or more.

So for me, the big big big swaying factor for the super-1050 was the crimp swager. I use a LOT of mil surplus 9mm brass... and all the 5.56 brass I shoot is mil-spec with crimped primers. I probably have 30-50K pieces of brass waiting to be reloaded that is all still crimped. Any one at a time, manual process just seems untenable for that volume of brass. I did a few hundred one night by hand on my RCBS case prep station and I had 'claw hand' for the rest of the day.

My bench is setup with 3 presses now... 1050, 550, and forester co-ax. Covers all my need from high volume blasting ammo to high precision match.

Thanks I just watched it. Very nice and maybe after I get my Rem. 700 I may do something like this but I have to get the rifle first

I thought about this for my 700 SPS, but the cost was so high... I'm going the m1a route now.

You mean an M1 like this? Except with a 20+ inch barrel.

Oh and the 700 SPS Tac and Chassis cost the same as a match grade M1A.
