Always make sure that you are wearing proper eye protection at the range.

I was at my local range today with my son. We were calibrating our rifles in lane 8. In lane 1, there were a guy firing a Magnum 500 (BOOM... BOOM!). All of a sudden, I hear him fire the Magnum then feel something hit my shirt. Granted, being hit by ejected brass is a common occurrence on any range. I did not pay much attention to having been hit by debris until I felt a burning sensation on my stomach. I went to brush off whatever was there and felt something jagged under my shirt. As it turned out, somehow I had been hit by shrapnel from that Magnum in lane 1. No one else was firing at that moment. I stepped off the range, pulled out the piece of metal lodged in my skin and applied a bandage. Needless to say, I waited until the guy was done firing his Magnum 500 before I went back in to finish my session.

So, make sure that you wear proper eye protection, because things can happen at the gun range.

To quote Monty Python "It's only a flesh wound..."

Rare, but it happens. You got "fragged". Glad you are ok.
