What was your first gun?

My first was the Winchester model 62A .22 long rifle that I grew up with. I killed a lot of blackbirds and soda cans with that rifle.

I didn't own a gun in adulthood until a few years ago. My first firearm purchase was a Taurus .38 Special revolver. This was also my first Open Carry gun in a paddle holster.

So what's the story on your first gun?

Well, technically it was my Dad's Ugatechia over/under that he had made while on cruise in Spain. It's a 16ga and a couple of you got to fire it at Culpeper. The first gun I purchased was a Sig P226.

The first gun I fired was a long tom 12 ga when I was 10. The first gun I purchased was a loricin .380 in stainless steel. It took me a year to get the loricin to fire with no ftf or fte. I worked the mainspring, improved the sites, and fixed the mags to feed properly. I filed the feed ramp and deburred the barrel. It was a lot of work but your "first" always is.

My first was a .22 Cricket youth sized rifle that my father taught me to shoot with. One memory that stands out was a winter several years ago where we had enough snow to make a giant snowball about 5ft in diameter. We cut a shelf into it and stacked cans and other assorted water containers, with the main event being an expired carton of egg nog. I loved the creamy mist we got out of it.
:clapping:
First weapon I purchased was a Benelli SuperNova. Whole lotta fun with both of those weapons. :fireright:

On a side note, my father taught me marksmanship the same way the Marine Corps does in boot camp. He wasn't a marine himself, but I always thought that was a credit to his skills.

I misspent my youth as a city boy in the north, and other than a time or two on Boy Scout trips never touched a gun until I bought my first one well into adulthood, a Smith & Wesson model 65. Have bought others since, but would never part with that one.

Mine was a Daisy Red Ryder that my dad got for me at Woolworth's in Spotsylvania Mall 20+ years ago. First gun I bought for myself was a T/C Omega muzzleloader for deer huntin' in '08 and the collection has grown quite a bit since then. No boating accidents yet in this household.

Bought a Savage 12ga pump when I was 16 for hunting.

Still have both.

I was on the rifle team in High School and trained with an M-16 A1 and M-60 in ROTC but my first gun was a new tapered barrel Ruger Target "678" that I ordered directly off of Ruger.com and picked it up from a local dealer. I knew that the Mk .22lr had a history in Vietnam as an ops gun and also was a favorite with varmint hunters and is a time-honored and respected workhorse. I didn't know that MkIs and MkIIs are good and MkIIIs suck or that tapered barrels sucked compared to bull-barrels. To me, this 678 will always shoot better than I can and it goes pop every time. A very happy purchase and possession. It lived up to my Teenage "some day I'll have one" expectations. And you can't always say that.

In 1976 when I was 16 I bought my first rifle; a M1 Carbine .30 Cal and still have it today, and will pass it down to my son. It is still in real great shape and I just love shooting it.

First gun I ever fired? An m-16 at basic training....with burst...guess I'll never do that again. Some of the older ones had full auto but we weren't allowed to use it even if you got one of them.

First gun I ever owned? A Savage arms 30.06 (still have it)....hint: no ones first gun should be a 30.06; too much gun for a noobie.
