First Wheel Gun

Picked up my first wheel gun today. Taurus 44 with 6.5" ported barrel. I debated for a little while between .357 Mag and .44 Mag, but decided on the bigger bang. I'm no expert on revolvers, so I won't comment on lockup and overall quality just yet, but I'm happy now for the price I paid.

I got her home a few minutes before dark and had time to put a few rounds down range. All BVAC ammo in Starline brass. First up, 240 gr LSWC @ 880FPS ... very manageable. Felt like a 1911 and moderately powered .45 ACP. Next up, 240gr JHP @ 1200 FPS. Felt more like .357 with a non-ported barrel. Finally, 300 gr JHP "Bear Loads" @ 1100FPS (and $$$$) - these definitely had some punch. Velocities are quoted from BVAC specs. I need to get the chrono out and verify, and to see what effect the porting has on velocity.
You all know this only means one thing.... I need to start looking for a lever-action rifle in .44 Mag.
