There's a march to support Zimmerman this coming weekend. Should be interesting.

Re: Where's the DOJ on this one?
All of this worries me a whole whole lot. Unless the prosecutor has some really juicy evidence up her sleeve (which I doubt) this fellow if there is any justice left in this world will be exonerated. I am worried that a portion of these numbskulls (family friendly term) might actually go out and race riot. Those who live and work in cities (and maybe even suburbs), unless they happen to have the correct amount of melanin, could be in danger. How long will it be allowed to ensue? What do we need to do to get ready to protect ourselves and our families?
On a somewhat lighter note and more pleasant note---guess that gives me the excuse I need to get that shotty I have been wanting.
Yeah for not letting a disaster go to waste.

Seems to me that every one of these twitter accounts should be investigated and the owners should be brought up on charges. Threatening to kill someone is not legal, nor is it moral.
Don't give me any crap about how your twitter account was hacked and you never really said that, either.

This. I am fairly certain that because the webbernets were used, Federal charges of "death threats" and hate crime can be levied against the twits. Err.... Twitterers. Tweeters?allingeneral wrote:Seems to me that every one of these twitter accounts should be investigated and the owners should be brought up on charges. Semi-seriously though, didnt the judge strip GZ of his right to bear arms as a bail condition? Bit like sending him into slaughter no?

That's one way of sweeping this sham under the rug. Dead defendant and the whole thing just goes away.Kreutz wrote:Semi-seriously though, didnt the judge strip GZ of his right to bear arms as a bail condition? Bit like sending him into slaughter no?

I have the same question about this incident
No Arrests In Matthew Owens Beating, Tensions High
http://www2.wkrg.com/news/2012/apr/23/5 ... r-3659891/
The reporters are making it out that the victim deserved it because he had a record, and try to downplay the fact that as they were beating him the attackers were heard saying

The neighbor, too scared to go on camera, told News 5's Lauren Vargas that they heard one of the suspects say "This is justice for Trayvon" as she drove away.

They should have used a picture of the victim when he was 13 yrs. old.

RE the Owens beating case, here's an update I found this am:

MOBILE, Alabama --
Mobile Police made their first arrest in the mob beating of Matthew Owens. 44-year-old Terry Rawls surrendered Wednesday on assault charges.
"This here is an ongoing dispute with neighbors, that's what this is," explained Corporal Chris Levy with the Mobile Police Department.
"I can tell you without a doubt 100 percent that the Trayvon Martin case was not the motivating factor, said Levy. "That 100 percent, it is an ongoing incident between people that have been fighting for a few years now."

Re: Where's the DOJ on this one?
I read that article too. If it's not a hate crime, or race-related, then why did one of the attackers mention Trayvon's name? An eye witness and Owens' sister both say they heard it.gregj wrote:RE the Owens beating case, here's an update I found this am:

The Mayor (African-American, Sam Jones) has come out and said the attack is not "even a race issue" and "the fact that one of the attackers allegedly said, 'Now that's justic for Trayvon' has been blown out of proportion." How does he have all the facts when the Mobile, AL, police department are urging people to withhold judgment until "all the facts are out"?
No racial slurs were uttered in the Zimmerman/Martin attack, and yet it didn't stop Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and the New Black Panthers from claiming it was a racially motivated hate crime. Seeing these double standards we've been forced to swallow for years is maddening. When will the authorities finally start enforcing charges against minorites for actual hate crimes instead of just against "white" Americans and "white Hispanics"?

Some ships are designed to sink ... others require our assistance.
Re: Where's the DOJ on this one?
Well we can say for sure that if it had been 20 White folks show up and beat a Black man with pipes and chairs that it would have been racially motivated, but when the shoe is on the other foot we can't say that. I call the Bull Sh!t meter on this one.

Hence three words: I CARRY FIREARMS.
When i call 911, it's for "cleanup", not "protection". Dot your i's, cross your t's, have a good lawyer's phone number in speed dial, and when questioned, simply keep saying "I was in fear for my life, and felt it necessary to defend myself, I'd rather have an attorney present for any further questioning, thank you."
AND USE YOUR RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT! YOU WILL BE DETAINED, CUFFED, AND QUESTIONED!
