First Range Trip with PPQ 9mm

So I love my Springfield XDM 4.5 9mm as it was my first handgun I've ever owned. I've shot other handguns which include, XD9, Sig 229 40cal, colt 1911 combat, glock 19 2nd gen, SW 642 Revolver, Browning buckmark, Heritage Rough Rider 22lr, CZ 85b 9mm.

Out of all those guns, I've shot most consistently with my XDM and would have groups of 2"-4" depending on distance. My personal best was at 25' and grouped all 19 rounds in a 2" group.

Today, I went to the range and shot my newly purchased Walther PPQ 9mm for the first time and first 10 shots were in 1' groups at 15'...last 5 shots of rapid fire still yield 3-4" groups. The POA and POI felt more natural, recoil felt like nothing compared to the xdm. I love the grips. I also shot the CZ 85b today.

Overall, I love my XDM but I didn't even shoot it today.....I feel guilty!

Another thing is my fiance was always afraid of the recoil of my XDM and she wouldn't put the PPQ down.. If you have considered it, try one out.

First time with PPQ at 15', 15 rounds, last 5 were rapid fire.

This was second mag at 20'

My fiance at 15'... yes I know she shoots better :) She is more patient and squeezes off the shots with patience!

Looks like you have problem there. lol Will she ever let you carry it or shoot it? She is a hell of a shot!

I love my Glocks, but I have seriously considered purchasing one of these as I have heard some great reviews. I also love the grip as well. If I can get my eyes off of a G20 10mm, I may end up with one of these.

She let me shoot one mag first since it was our first time at the range with it. She then took the liberty for the next 3 mags since she loved it so much lol. I actually was excited that she loved the PPQ. She's shot the same guns as I have and didn't like them due to the heavy recoil on them. Her first shot on the PPQ she smiled and kept pulling the trigger.

I can't say anything but great things about this gun. It did have 3 failure to extract but they were the second to last round and I did limp wrist. User error and the gun is still breaking in. I definitely need to order a few more mags for it and a lot more ammo!

Only thing I wish was different is the guide rod was not plastic but I haven't heard anyone having issues with it. The casings that eject are a little weird because they fly and hit you on the top of the head lol, but I am assuming that is also the gun breaking in.

Congrats on the PPQ. I used to have one. It's a helluva a shooter, very accurate. And a great trigger, probably best out of the box out there for a poly gun. I just couldnt get used to the paddle mag release.

It took me a little bit to get used to the release as well and I just use my trigger finger and it works out great for my fiance and myself. I actually like it a little better since I have smaller hands anyways.
