DRHT Firearm restrictions

The wife and I were thinking ow nice it would be to get a permit for the Heritage Trail here in King George. In order to use it, you must obtain a permit.

I just noticed when going through is process, they restrict firearms.

"No firearms may be brought onto the Railroad Corridor unless DRHTA has included "hunting" as a permitted use. This bars firearms including unloaded or inoperable weapons. And "hunter" is required to carry picture ID at all times when on Railroad Corridor."

Now why on Earth would I want to traverse such a trail unprotected? I wrote them to ask them to explain their policy further.

You can bet they will not receive donations or support from me.

received a reply today, short and sweet from their president:

"
No loaded weapons are allowed on the DRHT.
dj
President of the Friends of the DRHT
"

My reply:

"Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, until this position is reversed, my family will not
contribute to your organization."

I ask those in King George to consider this prior to contributing donations or providing support to them. If you go to their website right now, they are soliciting support from residents to be attached to Caledon.

So i see they are trying to make it a state park. Wouldn't that mean you would be able to carry there? I can't remember if that passed or if I'm just thinking of the federal park carry.

I got a permit for general use, and included a request for permission to hunt.

Denied.

See ya....
