I thought it was just the lamest example and angle they could take the first time I say that. The angle is "No body can stop a mass shooter he's invincible!" Where did the producer come up with such silliness?

Agreed. I thought of ABC News as an organization without angle, but this is questioning my opinion of them. Maybe it was just a one-off bad story. If I saw this story a few years ago, because of my ignorance with firearms I would have gone right along with the story. Now that I have some experience on the subject, I know you can't just throw someone new into a situation like that and expect them to perform.

Such silliness indeed, but who knows how many millions of people went right along with the story like I would have a few years ago.

Looked to me like perhaps the biggest fallacy built in was that the shooters obviously knew who was armed and targeted them.

Is it me, or does it seem like we are becoming more and more reactionary as a nation? One crime and people want to make huge changes to the law. Don't the American people realize that pretty much everything is against the law nowadays? How about we toss out ALL the laws, and start all over with common sense?

Yup. We have evolved into a new species: Homo Hyperregulator; whose survival instinct has evolved from fight-or-flight to a knee-jerk reaction to look to the damn government to solve the problem/rescue you/look after you.

And 99.999% of them are too ignorant to realize that when they holler "there ought to be a law" there almost always already IS a law; or that since the existing law against whatever it was didn't prevent it, another one won't either.

Crap like this is why we have a 60,000 page tax code. Time was, when they put that kind of stuff in 3 stooges movies. Now they write it into the law of the land.

The equivalent of this video is like grabbing some 4 year college student with a degree in criminal justice, and throwing them out on the beat as a police officer in a major city on their own - i mean, after all, they had four whole years of education on the criminal justice system, what more could they need?

We also don't know what the outcome would have been if they'd taken a typical "4 qualifications a year of experience" officer (instead of the firearms instructor) to walk into the room, do we?

How many of you guys that carry concealed would sit in the front row center at any normal gathering? I usually sit where I can get out easily whenever I can.

I hate getting off-topic this early in the discussion thread... but... did anyone else watch the "Flashbang Bra Holster" demonstration that was on the same youtube recommendation page with the news video? You got to be highly trained and stay on your toes all the time. I'm just saying... you never know who might be packing a pair of 38's under their pull-over.

As dormin said re the 99.999% - the same 99.999% have no ability to think critically about what they see on tee-vee, and believe even this poorly contrived crap.

I never have in a public setting due to my training but I would in church. I don't even do that now. There have been too many shootings in churches across the country. You'll find me standing or sitting on the back wall near the door.
