Ruger 10/22 Takedown

Picked up the rifle yesterday. The takedown method is quick and easy. There is an adjustment ring to ensure the barrel is nice and snug when you've locked it into place - set that ring and you're good to go. Ate Winchester M-22 and CCI with no hiccups, save one bad round.
I did pick up a scope and mount, and screwed up.

It's the Nikon 3-9x40 for rimfire, and it's got a nice big bell. I didn't think of one factor - when I turn the barrel, that front sight is going to catch on the scope. Doh. So, I need to find a shorter/smaller scope. I also need to find out what to do with this Nikon. Should I send it back to Amazon or buy another .22LR rifle? Hmmm....

Side question - might I be better served with high rings for the scope? I am concerned, though, that may throw off cheek weld.

Patrick's got a point! A nice set of "See-thru" rings may put that high enough to warrant keeping the scope!

High rings make it so I have to lift my head off the stock. Darn it.

I think high ring would be a no go. Would you could do is tap of the sight.

Call me old school, but putting a scope on this baby is gilding the lily...
Irons all the way!

I'm starting to lean that way, Palladin! I have this nice mount and scope, though. What should I do, what should I do? Very annoying that I might have to buy another rifle. OH NOES THE TRAGEDY.

That Nikon sounds like it would go nice on a bull barrel savage 17hmr

The front sight folds down. I have the same rifle and a scope that isn't elevated. Just fold the front sight down.

I meant rear sight.

I did, too.

Works fine with a 32mm objective, just not a 40mm for me.
Of course, as Palladin said, this one might be best served with just irons. Now I have two rimfire pieces of glass, so I guess I'll need to buy at least one more rifle.
