If you can make it on Sunday, 22 April at 1300 to the Fort Lee range we would enjoy your company on this fine Earth Day. We all need to do our part in restoring some of the earths fine minerals (lead) back to where they came from. So, Now that spring is here and the weather is warmer I think that it is time that we all get together and have a Shoot an Meet just to say hello.

Here is the link to the website for mor infomation and please note the restrictions.

Rick is trying to clarify if the restrictions are still in place with POWOfficerInCharge

I shoot there quite often. Those restrictions are still in place with the addition of FN 5.7s. These are not allowed either. Some' range officer' not the POW range officers, heard they were 'cop killers' and that Hassan used one in TX so he banned them from the range.

Are civilians allowed to shoot there? How difficult is it to get on base? I have a CAC, so no problem for me, but wanted to check for others.

Here's the information that I received from Lindsay - the OIC at the Personally Owned Weapons (POW) Range.
We find out ourselves if the range will be available for us only 1 1/2 weeks prior to the date due to military training schedules. So we'll find out April 11th for the 22nd. As far as the time, anytime is fine as long as it's before 3pm.

Calibers allowed at this time are handguns up to 50cal, Muzzleloaders up to 68cal, Shotguns (all gauges, and types of loads Shots to slugs) Rim fire rifles like the .22s or .17 HMRs, and Small-bore center fire rifles up to .223/5.56, still no word on our big bore range yet.

Yes civilians can shoot on our range, it is open to the public to anyone 10 years and older.

The range is part of Fort Lee but it is not on the main post side. It is located off of River Rd. before you get to the Riverside Prison. If you are coming from the mall area on Temple Ave. it will be a left onto River Rd (last red light before the T intersection of Fort Lee's gate) or if you are coming from Rt. 36 onto Temple Ave it will be the first right onto River Rd.

Once on River Rd it is the first right, you will see a brown sign that says Fort Lee Range Complex. Follow the road and we are the last range on the left, we are normally the only range open on Sundays so just look for all the other cars.

Open to Civ's. You have to take a quick training session to get a range card but it's painless. Nice outdoor range @ $5 per half hour, bring your own ammo, targets, eyes and ears

follow the direction to the range in the above post. They are putting a gate at the enterance but that is only supposed to be used during the Warrior Competition. Unload and store your CCW before entering Post though. Once you turn off of River Road you will be on Federal/US Military Property.

"range officers, heard they were 'cop killers' and that Hassan used one in TX so he banned them from the range."

So Fudds wear olive drab too? The tardation is strong with this one. I heard of a Fort Hood area gun shop that uses the massacre as a selling point for FN 5.7s. "that's the gun the guy used to shoot all those soldiers!" Stupidity ought to be a punishable offense.

Sadly, as I have moved away, I am unable to provide my standard all teh homebrew you can drink offer followed by my personal demonstration on the dangers of drinking too much homebrew, titled, "How to reverse consume mass quantities of homebrew." < (imagine the notes as chunks)

Just wanted to let you know we will have the range on the 22nd of April. I
won't be there because I will be running an Archery tournament on the main
post but if you have any questions feel free to discuss them with Norman
Cruz, he is also one of the officers in charge. Hope everyone has a
wonderful time!

Thanks,
Lindsay Miller

I think the range is open until 4PM. I would imagine that there will be some folks around until then.

Ahhh, you guys can't schedule this stuff when the Nation's Gun Show is going on! I'll have to miss this one as I'll be teaching at Chantilly.

Bah! Another missed opportunity to meet ProShooter! OK - how about you put one together that fits your schedule sometime in May at your location of choice? :)

Thanks for the kind words, Karina!

Ushuaia? You live there? WOW - that's WAY down there! I guess that's about as far South as is possible to be on land without being on Antarctica.

"Unload and store your CCW before entering Post. Once you turn off of River Road you will be on Federal/US Military Property."

So...how are we supposed to do this? Read all replies and checked Fort Lee MWR site, no joy.

You will need to find a place to this before you drive onto Fed property. Should you get caught with a loaded handgun on your person, the penalties can be sever. Your state-issued CHP don't mean diddly on a military installation.

I usually store everything in the trunk unloaded but in the same bag. I had one of the RO tell me a story of a federal agent that was stopped when he came on base and had his F/A in the cabin of the vehicle with him and he still caught hell from the MP's. There is that small distinction of authority when it comes to a military base since 9-11

Store it unloaded in your trunk or away from your reach if you have no trunk.
