Hello everyone was looking at some ammo options for my Springfield xd 9m. A friend found a really good deal on wolf ammo. I know it's a Russian ammo and heardit works fine in Russian guns but didn't know how it would work in a Springfield? Anyone have experience with this ammo?

I mostly stay away from steel case stuff. Hard on extractors.

I can find brass case for not much more if I buy in bulk and catch sales.

This is a funny statement... How many russian made guns in 9mm luger do you run across?

Its fine to use, but I prefer to higher quality ammo.

Lol. Yeah no my friend hadn't used 9 Russians but just had used the wolf ammo in a different cal. Thank you for your response. I'll continue looking. I've been using Winchester so far was just curious. Thanks again.

The Russian stuff is okay, not great by any means. You will likely find it to be both dirty and underpowered - depending on your gun and how you shoot, you may not notice a difference, or it could shoot softer, or you could experience more frequent jams.

I avoid Wolf in pistol calibers, except for .45ACP. The Thompson likes it, and it's cheap.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I will stick with what I have been using and just start trying to buy bulk.

Nothing wrong with buying a box or two and seeing how it performs in your gun. If it likes the Russkie fodder, great, you've got a source of cheap plinking ammo. If it chokes, then you know what not to buy without spending a lot of money.

I use wolf ammo when I am not getting ammo provided to me in 40 or .223. It works in my HKs, Sigs, and Glocks. I do not have a XD but had a Springfield 1911 that I shot wolf 45acp out of until I traded it for a HK USP.

Do not feer the wolf it works well for training and the Russians use it in the 9x19 pistols they just switched too.

You do realize your "Springfield" is actually from Croatia, a former Soviet Bloc country? They use steel cased ammo, just like the Czechs with their CZ-75s.

The XD and XDMs are made in coratia not the 1911s. The 1911s are forged in Brazil.

Thanks JR I need to read better. Yeah the XD will be fine with the wolf.

The AR hates the .223 (I have a Stag L2). Jams after 90 or so rounds.
The SKS loves the Wolf - sez; "It's yummy!"
The Sig 9mm tolerates the stuff. No jams, but man do I spend a lot of time on clean up!

Yeap my SKS will eat the Wolf and ask for more, but would I put it in my Remington 700 .308 that my son would be a resounding NO!

I was in Wal-Mart in Manassas the other day and there was some Tula .308 for dirt cheap $12 a box for 20 but I had to pass on it and bought the Winchester instead.

My 7.62x39 Saiga, 5.45x39 Arsenal, Chinese SKS, CZ-75b, CETME, Mini-14, and my two ARs eat the steel cased stuff just fine. If your AR doesn't work with steel cased, there's something wrong with it.

For your ARs - does the steel case you are using have the poly coating? Do your ARs have the chrome barrel lining?

i tried wolf .40 after reading this. i relax and mellow out cleaning my pistol usually. i recited the dirty language dictionary and may have invented a few new words after cleaning. no more wolf ammo for me thanks.

I use Tulammo, which has some kind of coating on it. My HD AR and my wife's AR are chrome lined. My 3-Gun AR is SS. None of them choke on the steel cased stuff. The Mini-14 and the CETME are not chrome lined, either.
