I'm kicking off a new site and could use a hand with some postings to help identify usability issues. Also would like to know if there are other topic areas that should be covered...

Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. I need to do some reading about state laws, but I am currently assuming that even in restrictive states like CA and MD, guns can be bought, sold and traded by private parties...is an FFL required for a private transfer in some states?

By the way...I'm trying to fill the hole where Craigslist doesn't allow firearms to be bought or sold on their site. Since this site is completely free to post, I'm hoping that it will start to get some good traffic and local firearms deals across the nation.

Looks good. I would suggest a disclaimer before you enter the site with a I agree click, a required price on the firearms for sale section and have a WTT only section.

I was just having this talk with one of my customers last week about disclaimers. She is a big wig $$$ lawyer who deals with internet law per say. I asked her about disclaimers and she told me you either do it when you create a account or if there are no accounts do it everytime someone enters the site. Apparently one could say "I never saw the disclaimer." From what she told me there is basically zero liability on your end (the owner of the site) as long as it is worded correctly (by a lawyer) and is logged. For instance the "bad sections" of CL have disclaimers upon entering everytime because certaint things on that site are a liability. Anything that is a potential liability and unfortunatly firearms are, you should have one so later down the road there are no if ands or buts if you were to get sued.

That site looks like it's going to be VERY successful. I wonder if craiglist will take an issue with it.

Looked good, it did remind me of a craigs list format though. So wouldn't this just be something like the other sites now? I've used gunbroker before but only to buy, so do you have to pay to list stuff like ebay? Would be nice for it to be for more private type of sales to be sent of course to an ffl, but most here in the "Peoples Republic of" wont accept stuff in the mail from non ffl's. Would also love to have more of a better place to buy ammo online, there isn't any laws against it, but the NAZI AG here Coakley wants part of the sale so she tries to go after internet retailers for shipping to mass residents. Just like how she tried to get the state of NH to charge ma residents sales tax and then send it to the state. Bunch of corrupt aholes here and now its hard to get bulk ammo a good deals.

Great idea and great looking site so far. I have two suggestions.

I would make it where you have to sign up for an account to list an item and have a check box on the disclamer as part of the process.

Any way to list just the states and then when you click a state it opens to the major cities, that would tighten up the page a bit.

It's good like it is though.

One other thing if possible (craigslist doesn't have much luck stopping it) is to limit the postings to one catagory and limit the time frame for reposting that item.

I'm sure you have noticed the every day/every catagory spammers on craigslist.

J/K, but I would change your disclaimer wording to something like "All transactions arranged between individuals who use this site are to be conducted...." Then, I would get a real lawyer to look at the wording and fix it up even more!!

might want to add gun accessories to the list of items.

i assume you're aware of armslist.com? is there something this site will do that your competition wont?

I know for a fact even long arms must go through an FFL in NY.

No private sales allowed.

Pennsylvania requires either a FFL or a local LEO to facilitate handgun transfers. My hazy recollection is that California requires transfers to go through a dealer (google DROS) with waiting period. Maryland is a little funky with handguns.

Does North Carolina still have those retarded pistol purchase permits?
